I was never offended by Stans posts (although I stopped reading most of them a while ago) but if you were truely offended, did you send him a PM asking what the problem was? Did you contact Cliff asking if there was anything he could do? Maybe a PM from Cliff to Stan and a short (temporary) ban would have helped.

Maybe there's nothing more wrong with Stan than hatred and a mixed up childhood. If so, good riddance. But, if you read his posts, he very obviously came across as having some deeper issues. Maybe the reason his hatred has a "special brand" is because of something beyond his control. I hope you wouldn't crucify someone for something they couldn't control.

I'm pretty sure he was banned one time before and given a second chance, it was either him or whitedevil88 or both for all I know...

I don't know about banned but he has been put on probation and given a warning by Cliff. He toned it down for a little while then went right back to it a bit after the probation was lifted.

Does that count Monkeyman?

This is my first foray into the trash can here, and I must say: WOW! On that one day of the year I feel the need for some drama... And I thought the OT was rough

lol this is nothing for the trash can , you should have been here a couple years ago for the lop sided chops thread I think it got so bad that cliff just shut it down... also being new I would be careful venturing into here. freedom of speech does not exist in here when it comes to the rating bar.

Cause, excuse, same difference if it was something beyond his control. It's like being mad at someone with MS for having poor handwriting. IF his rants were caused by something beyond his control, he shouldn't be hated for it. If he was just an a**hole, that's a different story. That was my point.

Hmmm... that might explain "Monkeyman For President" back in what... 2000? I might be one of the few members still around to remember this snippet of early PFF history. At the time I felt you had gone completely overboard with that shtick. Yes, I personally got sick and tired of it in relatively short order. Did I "hate" you for it. No, I did not. Did I neg you for it (when the rating system was later instituted)? No, I did not. Your "Monkeyman For President" phase ran its course (maybe you changed your meds), and we all moved on. No one was harmed in the process, it was all in fun (although everyone has a different sense of humor).

Contrast that to the bile that Stan has been posting for years, over and over and over again. Yes, he could be funny at times... but he also had a side to him that was best kept to himself. But he refused to do so, even with repeated warnings. We don't need anyone here promoting open hatred of individuals and/or of select groups. There are plenty of questionable websites where Stan's twisted beliefs will be lapped up. He can post at those sites to his heart's content...

Today unrelated to the direction the discussion has turned... I've only made, maybe, 4 posts in the last month or so and apparently the one I made in this thread was enough to get me negged, or at least nudged left a couple times. I've been perfectly neutral since last year.

I don't get up in the morning expecting to be an ******* to people... But it comes naturally so I also don't care.

...................................................
On topic: Stan's PFF persona was that of an abusive douchecanoe who utilIzed his diagnosed instability as a shield from behind which he could safely spew his insults, hatred, and bigotry.

Saying it was something else is poorly excusing it if not damn near enabling such behavior.

I have a family member that does the exact same thing and we've had to call her out on it in the past. She uses alcohol (and a stroke 20 years ago) to thinly mask her xenophobia and general hatred of my mother, and as an extension myself. Family reunions were a frickin' blast. Haven't had anything to do with my grandmother in 4 years as a direct result.

Sure, you could argue there are a few wires crossed somewhere but I would say if someone is perfectly lucid the vast majority of the time, at least until one subject comes up or a glass of booze comes within visual range, they're being purposefully malicious. But I'm not a doctor, just someone with first hand experience and a decent talent for analysing people's behavior.

Yes, would not take that as an excuse for a mass murdering school shooter. The only thing that excuse is good for is for pity, but you still separate them from society, one way or another.

Glad he is gone and glad I could help. Had him negged long before this latest incident. He is an embarrassment to any and all groups he claims to associate himself with. He would have made a great SS officer.

There are two people on this forum that know Stan extremely well and they have never spoken up after his rants nor tried to explain to us that Stan "wasn't all there." If Stan had problems that should have been taken into consideration, they should have spoken up - but they didn't. And again, Stan was plenty lucid enough to type that stuff out ad-nauseum even after we pushed back in the strongest terms. At some point his mental state became a superfluous point since it was right there in his rants.

I must admit, Stan has had a few good points of opinion.

Sometimes I think he popped more than a pill or shooted drugs before posting.

The posts are mostly direct and come across hard for some people.

I wish him luck to get better.
