I had chicken pox when I was a kid. I've had the shingles vaccine, and I've also had 2 minor cases of shingles. Both times in areas about the size of a half dollar coin.

My late wife and I always got our flu and pneumonia shots due to her lung problems. I had severe swelling and loss of use of the arm with the pneumonia shots and a sore arm for about a week from the flu shot. This year, a different pharmacy and a sore spot for a couple of days from the flu shot. I don't take pneumonia shots any more. I also had a light case of pneumonia earlier this year.

The pneumonia shot is good for 5 years I believe. And I believe it only covers bacterial pneumonia, not viral pneumonia.

Nah, I could use some time off from work, away from the stupidity.

I don't pretend to be an expert on shingles but having had one episode, I can assure you, I don't want to repeat it.
My doc says it can come back. That is enough for me to get the vaccine. Those who have not experienced a bad case of shingles have no idea how painful it can be. I'm an old warhorse, Marines and Army, multiple hospitalizations and operations. I'd rather repeat all but one versus another shingles episode like I had before..

I dont do flu shots. The one time I said OK, I got so sick I couldnt get out of bed for most of a week. Vowed never again and VA gives them for free. I NEVER get sick. I havent even had a cold for at least 10 years.

Yep, city folk should get it, IMO.

I always thought it went something like. :
If you have ever had chicken pox, then you have the shingles virus in you, and it can flare up anytime repeatedly.
Wrong?

Got mine.
Many chances to get sick at work, annoying people coming to work sick etc.., touching door knobs, coughing, sneezing, any help is good.

Couple other reasons, from what I understand:
The flu strains change, the flu shot introduces the latest one to you (dead though), so you can build immunities to it.
If you don't get a flu shot, unless you catch the live virus you don't build any immunity to it.
