Probably so. Like trying to contain the wind.
a sobering thought:
Lipsitch predicts that within the coming year, some 40 to 70 percent of people around the world will be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. But, he clarifies emphatically, this does not mean that all will have severe illnesses. “It’s likely that many will have mild disease, or may be asymptomatic,” he said. As with influenza, which is often life-threatening to people with chronic health conditions and of older age, most cases pass without medical care. (Overall, about 14 percent of people with influenza have no symptoms.)[This message has been edited by maryjane (edited 02-29-2020).]

It may be too early, but has anyone heard how this might affect the olympics?

for most people....for others, if steamboat rides were a nickle apiece, all they could do is run up and down the river bank yellin' "Ain't that cheap!"

I once hosted a convention for psychics.
The date, time and place was never publically announced.
I just told a few of my friends and we all thought about it a lot.
You can imagine our lack of amazement when absolutely ZERO psychics showed up......[This message has been edited by randye (edited 02-29-2020).]

Is this news to anyone? I don't think it's been mentioned here before.
"U.S. workers without protective gear assisted coronavirus evacuees, HHS whistleblower says"
| quote | | Officials at the Department of Health and Human Services sent more than a dozen workers to receive the first Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, without proper training for infection control or appropriate protective gear, according to a whistleblower complaint. . . . |
|
Lena H. Sun and Yasmeen Abutaleb for the Washington Post; February 27, 2020. https://www.washingtonpost....-whistleblower-says/
That was over a month ago, at the end of January, when the first Americans were evacuated from Wuhan.
