I thought that name looked familiar.
David Barrett and I are about the same age and I well remember his comically failed attempt to run for the Indiana State House of Representatives back in 1984
By the way, David has never worked for the CIA, NSA, NRO, DIA, INSCOM or any other U.S. government intelligence agency.
David is a academic that teaches at Villanova. He's made sort of a "cottage industry" for himself writing about the Kennedy administration and Cuba.
His submitted essay appears on the CIA studies library website WITH the following disclaimer:

Sigh, you will do anything to discredit facts you do not like.
To those saying "my family did not participate", no but your family certainly benefited from it. How can you not make that connect? Just because your family was not a member of the KKK, doesn't mean they did not benefit from racist policies. Its a lot easier to hold a job when you don't have to compete with women or other races..

You do realize the KKK, Jim Crow laws, and segregation were tools the Democratic party used to deny Constitutional rights from the black population?
How does ANYONE benefit from such hateful policy?

Studies do not always establish factual results.
One of my favorite old saws is 'Figures don't lie, but liars figure'.
