You still appear not to get it. Due to the exhaust port spacing, the only way that Fiero exhaust manifolds could be mounted on the "wrong" side is if the manifolds exited towards the water pump end of the engine.
I highly suspect you would've noticed that. |

i probably dont get it because i litterally just did it. on most fieros you are correct, i seem to be cursed with weird stuff that isnt standard or even correct. i dont think any of my 2.8s are with the right heads since i can take a trunk side flip it so its upside-down and bolt it to the firewall side with no issues as i just did it on my gt and have done it to the 88 after it cracked the firewall side. no clue why both of mine are like that and honestly it figures I have the odd one out. this would explain why the fiero store y pipe and any stock y pipe didnt fit quite right. i only noticed the difference looking at a set of sprint headers today and went "those wont fit....wait a minute" since they were bolted to a 2.8[This message has been edited by cartercarbaficionado (edited 06-05-2025).]

On all Fieros with a factory 2.8 installation, I am correct.

Let's see a photo of one of these "wrong" heads, preferably mounted on a fully assembled Fiero 2.8 engine.

Still looking forward to seeing these magical 2.8 heads that allow the exhaust manifolds to be switched from side to side!

guess your right. my gt (hasnt ran yet in my ownership) apparently just had 2 exhaust ports open? so they just had the bolts and nuts there kinda just holding it to the head fkr some reason. the mysteries of that car amaze me. maybe they ended up scrapping it because they couldn't get the right manifold or something idk but i have a set on it now. as for the 88 i guess ive been getting stupid lucky the 5 times ive had to take the exhaust apart and throw it in a pile because it melted a manifold...thats a separate issue entirely

No guesswork required. Only in an alternate reality would exhaust manifolds be able to swap sides (and exit in the correct orientation) on a Fiero 2.8 engine.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 06-08-2025).]

Nope. It will bolt up, but the the outlet will be pointed at the battery. If you flipped it around, the center port wouldn't line up, and the outlet would be pointed downward. If they were interchangeable, the firewall side (which is the one that gets rained on, and cracks) wouldn't be in such high demand.
Edit - I see I'm late to the party, as usual. But my comment still stands.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 06-13-2025).]

What they are telling you is that it isn't possible. Based on the way the cylinders are, the spacing is different on the way the manifolds line up. I marked up the picture posted above. If you were to flip it the port spacing would either be to short or too long depending on which way you were going.------------------ -Brian

So here we are a month later debating this but we haven't heard a peep from the OP.
Did you get your manifold?
