Hood Stuck (Page 1/2)

Yeah I buggered both cables. Pulled out of the mount, slack under the dash. Had a friend push and pull at the latch, before that. Even if I could make "The Tool". I lack the skill to find the sweet spot. I tried to get a subby 10mm on the nuts holding the striker, but it's too tight. I live in Ocala, FL. I have three 88's with stuck latches. I would gladly pay someone to help me get them open.

Look at the edges of the hood(s).
Does sides match the fenders especially @ the tops at the top? Top of each should have continuous body line across the windshield.

If not, likely have damage to the hinges or worse and hangup on one or more anti-guillotine bolts.

Thanks for your reply;
These cars have been sitting in my yard and the hoods opened six months ago. This is Florida, not a Fiero friendly state. I was thinking of peeling the foam and using a flex head 10mm wrench(which I'll have to buy) to remove the nuts holding the striker. Is it possible to get at the latch bolts from underneath?

Try the search function on this site. Here is a link to one where Skitime makes a tool to open the latches. Only problem, pictures of process are missing since the thread was done in 2001. Good luck. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...010924-2-008917.html

Yep, the Wayback Machine is always worthwhile checking into for dead online sites/links.

Great job Mike in Sydney. I'm going to make that tool now that I can see the pics. Should help our Hood Stuck guy a lot!

Can't take the credit. I found it in Ogre's Cave. His Cave is invaluable. Usually the first place I look with questions.
