I've recently been looking to replace my car now that I've ran it through it's life and rather than put the money into repairing it I have been drawn to the Fiero. I found one that I would have snagged up immediately before I heard the list of things that needed fixed on it. It's not something that I wouldn't undertake, but I don't know what a fair price on this car would be. The car is a 1985 Fiero GT. It's been a single owner car and spent ten years in LA. The ugly is it has been sitting for several years and has developed some problems. It runs if fuel is poured into the throttle body, but the fuel pump needs replaced and the tank needs cleaned out. Several brake calipers are also seized up from sitting and the clutch needs replaced because the fluid has drained out. A new exhaust is also in order for it. The interior doesn't look terrible in picture, but the owner says the sunroof had leaked and the interior wold need replaced. I haven't been able to find many other Fieros in the area and would want your opinions on what price would be fair for this car, and what could be repaired or fixed and what needs replaced. Thank you!

Tough to answer without seeing pictures. A lot of it depends on your skill level, as it gets very expensive if you need to pay someone to do all of this work.. Me personally, I would rather spend the extra money for a car that is not a piece of crap, than get a free or dirt cheap car that will take hundreds of hours of sweat and grime to bring back to life. But others enjoy that part, have the skills and tools to do it, and get satisfaction out of bringing one back to life.
So it depends on the size of your wallet, the amount of spare time you have, and the skills/knowledge/tools available to you
From what you described, to me it sounds like $500-$750 tops...

Agree on the price as stated previous. But it sounds to me you should walk on this one. Leaky sunroof can cause so much damage and the only way to stop a leak is to get rid of the sunroof. Keep looking, something better is out there. ------------------ 86 GT built 2.2 ecotec turbo rear SLA suspension QA1 coilovers on tube arms

The "clutch" (disc) is a separate entity from the clutch hydraulic system. Could be something as simple as replacing the slave cylinder.

...or it could just be plugged drain holes.
I'm not trying to minimize what might be required to get this Fiero road-worthy... but the problem is, you don't know. I agree with the $300 value assessment.

Thank you all for the quick advice. I was already totaling up figures for what would be needed at minimum to get it roadworthy and was gonna take a fine look at what other Fieros that were up and moving were going for. I'm not at all opposed to getting dirty and wrenching on things and its all about the difficulty of doing the repairs, the hardest of which looks like the clutch if its not just the slave cylinder.

There's a lot of low miles Fieros to choose from for hundreds of dollars. Really, some are 40 to 60 thousand mile cars that nobody wanted to work on (or knew how to) so they sat. You can get a better car than you think.

I recently checked out an '86 GT for parts that had been sitting outside for quite a long time. The interior was completely ruined due to a leaky sunroof, nothing was salvageable. I have revived cars in poor condition, but I wouldn't touch this one.
