I bought a car that has the 11-1/4" LeBaron brake upgrade on it. I believe it has the Blazer front calipers and Seville rear calipers.
Pretty sure the front passenger caliper is dragging and both front rotors are junk, so I was thinking about about switching over to the Grand Am brakes since I have them sitting in the garage. Here are my questions: 1) If I go Grand Am in the front and Seville in the rear, what is that going to do to my brake bias? 2) Do I need to go back to Grand Am in the rear at the same time? If so, I think I read that you grind off the tabs in the back, which would mean that i need to replace the rear knuckles to go back to the Grand Am, correct? 3) If I stay with the Seville rear calipers, can I use the Grand Am rotors so that the rotors don't look mismatched? Not sure that I would be able to tell visually either way, just a question.

1) Bias will be wonky, bigger rotors in the rear, not sure about caliper piston diameter differences between the GA and Seville.
2) Yes, the GA in back would be better. The tab that needs grinding is on the front knuckle. The tab needs to be shortened enough to not hit the inside of the rotor, it does not need to be removed.
3) GA rotors are smaller, the Seville caliper is too far out to get full pad engagement on the rotor.
My advise would be to fix what's on the car now. Calipers and rotors are inexpensive.[This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 06-24-2019).]

Sorry Joe, I mean since it has the LeBaron brake upgrade on it now, doesn't that mean the rear knuckle was ground down?

Aha! That makes more sense.
I would just fix what you have on the car now, sounds like less work and money.

In short... Front GA caliper and Rear Seville caliper w/ 4W GA rotors end up with almost nothing for the trouble and money vs stock brakes. See my Cave, Brake Upgrade
Fixing your hack "upgrade" now isn't much better for the car at any time or you after a crash but Many still push crap brake "upgrades" like that. Many have far too much or too little bias and: rear brakes do little to nothing and fronts often wear out fast. rear brakes do too much and lock the rear axle easily. More so on sand/dirt surfaces or rain/snow covered roads. You can find this only when you spin out or worse often w/ no warning.
Cops/DA and Insurance Co can, often do, investigate when anyone is hurt/killed in a crash and easily see mod'ed brakes and label you as a Street Racer. Getting sued after a crash is bad enough... But having crap mod's or just knowingly driving a car w/ problems is a good way to loose any lawsuit then you pay victims and their lawyers big time.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.
