I think my alternator is starting to slowly die! Looking for a replacement...I have an aftermarket stereo and fog lights, i would like something with more juice...whats would be an easy upgrade that will bolt right into the engine bay without any mods or fuss????

I replaced mine (2.8) with one for a 93 Buick regal 3.8 N/A. Bone yard item but brand new. Old alternator was in the box on back seat with sales slip. Guy wrecked car before he had a chance to return the core. Got it for $15.00 .
Slight mod... had to swap the pulley, re-clock the body and a little nip & tuck on one of the alternator boses. Forget the amp output but it was more than what I had before.

Look up Rabid-Wombat's Fiero page. Someone here may have the link. It outlines with pictures the CS-130 alternator swap for the 2.8L engine. Don't quote me but I believe the stock alternator is 90 amps, the Delco CS-130 is like 110-115 amps. It is also a better engineered unit.
I did the swap 3 years ago on our GT and could not be happier with the results.
Edit: Just remembered, the Ogre has a link in his alternator files. Look in the cave.[This message has been edited by Kevin87FieroGT (edited 11-28-2013).]

The Fiero Store sells a PowerMaster 140 amps. This is a direct bolt on. I have one and it works great!!!

Rabid Wombat's instructions here . The only thing I had to change was the pigtail because I put in on an '85 2.8 and the CS130 was made for the '88. Took about an hour total.
I got a reman from eBay for $55, had it shipped to Lewiston for free and picked it up there.
Edit: Got it from ucpautoproducts, you could contact them and tell them what you're looking for. They didn't have the exact one listed, but when I told him what I was looking for he set me up.[This message has been edited by NetCam (edited 11-28-2013).]

Yes, I have a copy to.
OE CS130 came w/ 105 Amps peak. Aftermarket higher.
Note that Using OE wiring and pulling 140 amp is a good way to have problems.
Also See my Cave, Watt Story and CS Alternator
aftermarket stereo might need caps. Fog light likely needs to rewire and use a relay. search PFF------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)

Seems like the easiest swap would be the CS alternator, only requires splicing a few wires. Cheap and gives a good power boost.

Since you think your alternator is starting to die, make sure you test your battery before you actually put in another alternator. You just want to make sure the battery is solid. A bad battery can kill an alternator...and it could be why you are having charging problems.
