You are very welcome.

BTW, were did you get your clear front indicator light housings?
Shho13 OCT 22, 04:10 PM
😄

I got them from Blacktop Racing. I ordered them a while ago; never put them on until I did the complete LED bulb upgrade though...

Awesome that you thought to get those drawings done. Grew up playing Sonic on the Sega Genesis, brings back a lot of memories! Hows the POR 15 holding up so far? Tempted to do that myself but looks like a ton of work. Can't believe you got that engine in your basement... doing head gaskets? studs? or just the easier gaskets? tearing it down to check bearings?

Thanks! Yeah! Honestly working and having this car has saved my life... It's like therapy to be honest, it keeps me sane.

Yeah! Sonic (and also Mario of course) was a huge part of my childhood and I couldn't resist getting something commissioned like this. I remember playing those now old games as far back as I can remember!

The POR15 is holding up perfectly! still looks as good as the day I put the suspension back together, I was just under the car a few weeks ago to grease up all the fittings for the winter. I should mention that I don't drive the car every day, so it wouldn't wear as fast as a daily driver would... It has seen rain a such though, don't get me wrong! I am still really am happy with how it all came out.

I am not going to do anything major to the engine... It's still sitting in my basement on an engine stand! Was a dog to get down there for sure, but a hand truck and a bunch of muscle from myself and my buddy willed it down there! Getting it back up will be another challenge, but we'll worry about that when the time comes!

I have a complete Felpro gasket kit to do all the seals and gaskets, as well as a new water pump... Not going to do head gaskets or even check the bearings though... I hear that head studs like to strip upon removal of the heads so I want to avoid an issue coming up there... The engine allegedly ran fine (I bought the engine off a reputable PFF member) when it was removed. Upon investigation, the plugs look perfect, no concerns by the look of them; no random new plugs, they all look the same age, no signs of running rich or lean, they weren't "wet", and not "steam cleaned" so no sign of coolant getting into the combustion chamber; the plugs look normal... Oil was a normal black color when I drained it, no smell of fuel, or any signs of coolant in the oil at all, again, I'm not really all that worried as the car was driven and maintained very well by some old man from what I remember being told about the car it was pulled from... If the thing blows in the future I'll just end up getting another engine from somewhere that has less miles, as rebuilding is so much more expensive and troublesome than it's worth... Can get a low miles engine for not too much money TBH...

Spring is here in 2019, and it's time to start doing stuff on the car again! Yay!

First thing I did was remove the old purpled window tints to fix the rear defroster. A few lines weren't working, so I fixed them!

After it dried, I brought it to my buddy's new shop to re-tint the windows. I got 55% in the front (light enough so that the police can still "see" in the car), and 18% on the rear. Shoutout to my buddy Ron in his new shop, Strictly Auto Sport in Green Brook NJ!

After that, I removed the door panels painted them to match the interior. Fiero Store stopped stocking the color matching paint, so I had to call them and special order it. Expensive, but worth it. Check it out!

Before I painted them:

First coat:

Done and installed:

Looks great!

I also installed a new rear view mirror with auto-dim, compass, and exterior temperature reading. Bishop144 in The Mall is selling them; has a thread going here, check it out if you want to buy one off of him!

The mirror is out of a 2006-2009 Chevy Equinox.

Alright, here's pictures of the install!

Harness coming out from mirror

Power: I used an "add a fuse" kit and tapped off the "turn signal" circuit; which is ignition activated. Ground is through a self-tapper through the sheet-metal of the steering column. No pics of this, kinda self explanatory!

Drilled a small hole through the plastic above the bulkhead for ambient temperature sensor wire

Ran wire through where the factory harness is

Taped it back up good as new

Here's the ambient temp sensor and the harness by the way... Part number is SU8235. Wiring on harness is; if looking at connector face clip side up, the right side gets wired to ground, left goes to mirror.
To mirror(-T-)To ground

(tape is on the side that gets grounded)

Drilled hole and installed sensor in front headlight bucket area (I may move it, I don't know if it is reading the temperature correctly yet)

Overall, I'm super happy with the painted door panels and the mirror. The shiny black that the panels have out of the box was terrible looking in my new interior, and my old rear view mirror NEEDED TO GO. Enough was enough I could never see out the back it's been over four years, if you remember all the way back in my very first post, the car had a draw on the battery. One of the five previous owners incorrectly installed (tapped into an always hot circuit an EZtap right into the interior lights). I originally just cut the wire out and never re-ran the wire to wire former mirror correctly because the mirror was always stuck in "dimmed mode" 100% of the time and wasn't worth it.

How much have you driven the car with those door panels? I am curious if the speakers get in the way of you legs?

Additionally, ate you going to Carlise this year?

The door panels are no hindrance, not in the way of my legs at all, even when using the clutch! The stereo sounds soooo much better with 6.5 component speakers... Completely worth it.

As for Fieros at Carlisle with my car this year, most likely not... However If the weather is exceptional that day I'll probably make the trip for a the day on impulse with my daily driver. While it would be really, really nice to see everyone again and bring my car to show it off, it's a long drive for what would be only a single day showing it, (six hours round trip). I really want to go to Fall Carlisle this year for the entire weekend, I've been to Chevy and Ford Nationals at Carlisle, I find myself not as "into it" with manufacturer specific shows, Not enough diversity to last an entire weekend to justify a hotel cost.
