Can anyone identify this car? (Page 1/1)

A little more than 1 month ago I saw an ad on CL for a 1988 Blue Fiero GT with a L67 installed but needed resurrecting (had been sitting for several years). It was located just south of San Francisco. There was no phone # listed and no email, the only way for contacting was thru the CL website. The car was priced right and I am close enough, other than a couple of questions I was ready to buy the car. Had actually already started a plan for going down to get it. I then, over the past month, sent 6 emails, the first one just a day or two after the ad first appeared, practically promising to buy the car. I never received a reply. I don't believe that he sold it. What happened I can only guess. Maybe he has a very poor memory. I jokingly thought maybe he was hit by a bus the next day. Not really something that I should joke about as it is possible that he has come to some kind of harm or emergency. Now the ad has expired and I still want to buy this car. Has this person been on the Forum? Does anyone know of the car? Maybe it has been sold and someone here knows of the sale.

This is probably just another typical Craigslist jerk. Once the item sells, or whatever, the ad stays up for weeks without being deleted. No doubt he continued to get email inquires via the email link but he couldn't be bothered to reply or delete the ad.

With this particular ad, I emailed him within an hour of the listing. He was very helpful and informative. I explained that It was a 2+ hour drive for me and I would prefer a bit more info and pictures before committing to make the trip. He agreed completely and said he would respond quickly. I was the first to contact him and that was the last that I, or anyone else to my knowledge, heard from him. I sent at least three follow up emails before giving up even though the ad remain active until it finally expired.

I have no doubt he was contacted by lots of potential buyers, including another thread here that I also responded to...

Someone local probably showed up right away with a tow dolly and cash in hand and that was that.

Yeah that sucked I was drooling over that and ready to go get it that weekend it posted. It was 30 mins from me. Never heard back. Hopefully somebody on here got it, or some loser is posting fake ads. You would think theyd pick a different car tho. The guy probably got so many responses so fast, he knows its worth more and will relist it later at a higher price. That was fukin score im still bitter lol

Thanks for all who responded. I guess that's my answer as much as I don't want to hear it. I am surprised that there was so much interest. My first question was going to be ; exactly how many years had it sat? This would have saved me some time.

I'll just go back to plan A, which is to put a 4.9 Cad in my '88. I have a spare engine cradle, and a spare trans and an engine out of a '95 Cad and I've got it all mounted on a roller and am now working on the exhaust. I'm hoping to make the switch this spring.

Thanks again, for solving my mystery.
