Since when are you the PFF moderator/spokesperson? I asked a simple question, not addressed to you. Maybe John Willhoff would like to weigh in personally with a response.

That was 21 years ago... and we're still waiting. Seems to me that over the last couple of decades, forum members have been asked to submit information under false pretenses. Please John... prove me wrong!

Patrick... you're calling out someone who didn't even start the thread. Life happens. Some people have families and kids. And travel for work. And have other responsibilities, other than a hobby car. John used to be a regular at our club meetings, and quit doing that about the time he fell off the forum. If you don't want to supply any more information, then don't! Is it any skin off your back? People can add info as they see fit. Or not. Is that any of your business?
Look... I DGAF about your politics. Inconsequential to me. When you start dogging out my friends, it's a different story. You're wrong. And I won't stop.[This message has been edited by Raydar (edited 09-06-2025).]

As much as I'd like to see the information released to the public, it is John's creation and property. He was paid by no one to create this database, so I guess if he doesn't want to release it, he doesn't need to.

John didn't start this particular thread, but maybe you'd like to acquaint yourself with the 11th response in this thread. From 16 years ago...

For about 10 years now, I've been trying to collect as much info on the 88 production run as possible, with the hope that someday we would have info on enough cars to make reasonably sound predictions as to production options. This info may exist somewhere or it may not, but either way, I think there is value to documenting info when it's available for posterity. Someday it may all be important, but even if it isn't (say, because the actual production build sheets for each car were saved somewhere), at least we're building a database on cars that have been scrapped or parted out. Along the way, I've meet many wonderful people who have helped me out tremendously, and to one and all, I offer my Heart Felt Thanks!
For those who might have an 88, know someone who does, or might see one in a junkyard, I'd appreciate any help you can give me in documenting the cars. Basically, I collect info on factory color options (Exterior, Interior, and Rims (GTs and Formulas (I know, Formulas should all have black rims from the factory, but do they?)), the roof type and the tranny type. Any other info is also welcome, but even if all you have is a vin number and the fact that the car is intact, that's a good starting point for the future. Any info is better than having a blank record for a car. For those that might have the center console removed, there is a sticker on the ALDL connector (unless the glue has let loose!) which has a date code and shift number on it. I also collect this info when possible, but do not believe it's tied to car production weeks anymore. Still, having the info is better than not, and maybe someday we'll be able to use it to our advantage.
People have offered to help with a website, and I do appreciate it, but intend to get one up soon. I have made that promise before, but now it's definately time to do it. Stand by on that one.
Thanks to all for reading this and your continued help.

Uh huh... that's no doubt why out of the blue, you felt the need to post the following...

"Dogging"? I last posted about this eight years ago! Maybe you'll again get an opportunity to express how butt-hurt you are about me in 2033. lol

So this page was reported to me, specifically to look at these last few posts.
Honestly, I get why Patrick's asking questions. When a project collects data from the community and says it'll be shared "soon" (for decades) people are naturally going to wonder what's going on. That's really not entitlement, that's a fair question.
That said, I also get where Raydar is coming from. This has always been volunteer-driven, and real life has a habit of getting in the way. I know - I've been there. So really, nobody's under contract to deliver anything here. But repeated promises, even if well-intended, build expectations. It's not surprising people are getting frustrated now.
So here's what I can do:
- If 88 Database Guy still has the data and is okay sharing it, I'll happily host it on PFF - even if it's raw, like just a CSV.
- If there are privacy concerns, I can strip out the data in question.
- If it's messy, I can probably help clean it up. I mean, it doesn't have to be perfect.
So from here on, lets keep the tone respectful. No one's on trial. The goal is simple: make the info accessible. If the data is still out there, I can give it a home.

Thanks Cliff, I appreciate that you can look at this situation in an unbiased fashion. I certainly wasn't attacking anyone. I simply wished for some clarification on the goal of this long-term, member supplied, data collection.
