I'm absolutely going to make it street legal. I have a few uncomfortable big cross country trips planned for it this fall.
It needs heat, which I am going to add in the form of a rear heat unit from a van. It also needs headlights, and the current brake/running light situation looked at. beyond that it is pretty easy to deal with the stiff suspension and noise so far, but im not driving it 8 hours across the country yet.

Looks the the main part of the dash is still there, which means the back-up VIN plate is probably still attached to the steering wheel bracket structure. Good luck with making it street legal.

Im doing some dash work soon, so I'll look there. I also plan to hunt around under the windshield when I replace it here this week.

My youtube buddy in town might take a video of it with me... I hope he does.
I'll get my dslr over there, for some reason my phone just takes crap pictures in my shop, lol. I'm doing pads and tires right now so the wheels are off.

It looks vaguely familiar but hopefully your new acquisition won't be as hilarious as mine - I just got a Blue 87GT this weekend. It came to me from 2 states away, where I had never lived after passing through 3 owners and a major metropolitan center (also not in a state that I had lived in. It ultimately turns out that it was my ex-boyfriends car from 20 years ago. A friend had a picture of the car (with the same aftermarket rims, Holley scoop and single color nose) in my dad's garage. What are the odds? He bought it to impress me as we were breaking up (it obviously didn't work so then he stalked me around town with a very obvious to spot car). Apparently he sold it to a dealership in my parents town, someone from 2 hours away bought it, then sold it to someone in a big city 1.5 hours farther away. That person sold it to another owner in the city who then sold it to someone 4 hours away from the big city further up in the state. That person than traded me the car and I now live in a completely different state then where I grew up! It's absolutely nuts.

Interesting. And encouraging.
I've got a 97 LQ1 that I'm looking forward to swapping into my 88 coupe. Potentially a few intake and exhaust mods. Gonna be a couple months down the road, at a minimum, however. The "blow off the 255s in 2nd gear" comment intrigues me, however. Although, obviously, your car has been lightened, a bit.
What trans are you running? I'll be running a Cavalier F23 with the stock gearing. I'm hoping the 7200 RPM redline will give me time to shift to second gear, when I hammer it.
Good luck with your project. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Wow!
Not just everyone gets to buy their former stalker's car. Especially considering you were probably the reason they owned it in the first place.
