Just exited HOA meeting held at the WholeFoods complex in Chandler. Took some time to look around the dining areas. They had smoked beef, pork, bison, turkey and chicken. You bought it by the pound or in sandwiches. Great smelling meats. There was a wall full of beers and another of wines. Not that I am recommending Fireo drivers partake -- but it is there. There was also a selection of Mexican and Italian plus several good old american selections on the hot buffet (again by the pound) like meatloaf and baked and mashed potatoes , along with numerous selections of veggies and a fish or two. There are so many desserts and just goodies to snack on i lost track. I am going to approach the manager on setting a side some parking for a "Fiero Corral." We will see.
I haven't gotten any responses for next Thursday night - but I keep hoping for more than an organization (Arlo's 3). I would hate to set up a corral for twenty and have only two or three show up.
So - voice if your going to make the trip Phoenix!

All,
I heard that Ron F. is likely for this Thursday.
That is 1005 improvement. just think if we continue this trend we could have (2 to the 12 power) in a year, 4096 cars.
That would be totally overwhelming! :-)

Ok - could be 24 (2 + 2x11). Not as over whelming -- but still would be neat to see that many Fieros in one place at the same time again

Best

I am in Prescott Valley and there are 3 or 4 nice stock Fieros that I have seen at various local car shows.

Six cars showed up for the second 2013 "event."
Four were running Fieros and a couple of modified Subarus. Travelers from Tucson and beyond. Talk was good. Food was good. Ribs were GREAT!!
No real solid suggestions for next get together. Likely will be a breakfast "Cruise In" in December. We’re looking at Saturday the 21st. We will try to stay away from the shopping centers.
January is looking like a run toward "JAKE's CORNER" on Hwy 188 for lunch (open flame burgers and barely/malt/hops flavored water). We will be leaving Chandler (yup Whole Foods parking lot) at about 9:30 - stopping at Fort McDowell Casino parking lot just off of Hwy 87 around 10:00 - plan on leaving their lot around 10:15 and pulling in to JAKE's about 11 - 11:30.
Hope to see more cars for the run.
Anyone have a spare heater for an 88 - could be a cold run if I don't get it replaced! Them mountains (well tall hills) get cold that time of year.

Doober and AZ_POPS,

I am also located in NW Tucson. I've seen a few Fieros on this part of Town, but not on a regular basis.

Mine is a white GT, missing passenger 1/4 window and cracked driver 1/4 window, no spoiler. What's yours look like? Down at Jack Furrier's on Ina next to Pep Boys they were doing a fuel pump in a low mile, mint '88 GT.

Yup that was mine at Jack Furriers. There's a white GT I see around here with no spoiler and the head lights are locked in the up position. Is that one your's?

No, everything works on mine except the mirrors... the switch crapped out (used to work). On very rare occasions the passenger side doesn't want to go up though.

I work at the Pep Boys behind Furrier's if you ever want to do a drive-by

December's event is listed on the event page.
Cindy's Arizona Cafe, Mesa

December is just around the corner. Hope all have recovered from the Turkey day (and got to hear a full rendition of Alice's on the local radio station. I did!! :-) ).
December's event (since I did not get any suggestion to work from) is a cruise in to Cindy's Arizona Cafe (http://cindysazcafe.com/ ) in Mesa, 124 E McKellips Road. Plan on meeting up there around 8:30 to 9AM on Saturday the 21st. If we can keep the trend going 6 to 8 cars, drivers and/or couples.

Reminder January "Cruise"
Jake's Corner on Hwy 188.
Plan to meet there at 11 - 11:30
Leaving the valley 9:30 ish Chandler, 10 ish Fort McDowel

Steel88GT & Doober,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I just got back to Tucson after visiting my daughter and her family in Ohio for several weeks. (I bought a car there and drove it back & just missed the snow and sleet storm. It was just starting to come down as I went thru Little Rock - talk about dumb luck !)

Anyways......I've got a black 88 GT but I don't take it out very often. 'Put about 600 miles on it last year. I often hang out in the Ina-Thornydale area, so I'll look for you guys.

I forgot to mention... I saw the GT you were talking about, saw him at Hughes Credit Union, we talked for just a minute because I was on my way to work. He said he's just over 200,000 miles, I didn't see if it was auto/manual, but it has white skirts (mine are silver) and looks like a factory spoiler-delete (I've taken mine off and the holes are currently plugged).

I take the Fiero to the Dairy Queen on Ina once in a while on a Sunday afternoon. Also 'make it to the coffee shop at Thornydale & Orange Grove (behind the Subway) some mornings. I saw that lime yellow/green notchie in the Ina/Thornydale area a couple of weeks ago. I made a U-turn to chase him down and he was gone - must have turned down a side street.

Steel88GT

'Got about 65K on it.

Doober

I get into Pep Boys. Next time I'll look you up.

Alrighty If I'm there I'm parked on the service side (all the bay doors), not the store side, where most the employees park. If you see a white Fiero it's likely I'm there

All,
The Christmas holiday is just around the corner. I hope all have gotten the shopping done and can join us at Cindy Saturday morning. Cindy's Arizona Cafe (http://cindysazcafe.com/ ) in Mesa, 124 E McKellips Road is fairly easy to get to, there is a pretty good sized parking lot, and the shopping malls traffic should not be an issue. Let us plan on meeting there around 8:30 to 9AM on Saturday the 21st. But, I do understand it is the last shopping Saturday before Christmas. If we can keep the trend going 6 to 8 cars, drivers and/or couples.
Word that I have is that Ron and Steve will there. I have hopes for more.
January is still looking like a run toward "JAKE's CORNER" on Hwy 188 for lunch (open flame burgers and barely/malt/hops flavored water).
I got the heater for the 88. Hopefully the heater will be installed leak-free by this weekend. So, Lana and I should be nice and toasty for the run through the Mazatzals.

The pre-Christmas breakfast on the 21st went fairly well. A few new/old faces showed up. There were few less cars – but about the same number of followers. Just different followers. I will have to re-evaluate my algorithm. But, I know there have got to be more cars and owners out there. If you see them – please try to get their information to me for inclusion in the e-mails. January is still looking like a run toward "JAKE's CORNER" on Hwy 188 for lunch (open flame burgers and barely/malt/hops flavored water). The plan is for a Saturday January 25th run through the Mazatzals to the north and east. The trip back can be through one the western shores of Lake Roosevelt and on toward Globe and Hwy 60 back into Phoenix or retrace the mountain curves back toward Scottsdale. It is roughly a 200 mile round trip.
I am thinking that the April Event will be a cruise to Tucson for the all GM motorama at Quail Canyon. I was told the organizers would like to have a big 30th Anniversary Fiero display. They are trying to bring Mr John Schinella (part of the original Fiero design team) there as a VIP guest from Detroit. Plans and information will be forwarded as it becomes available to me. Keep the days around April 12th open if you can.

It is roughly a 200 mile round trip. If you are joining from the Tucson area, the fast trip (according to MapQuest) is to join us at the Whole Foods parking via Hwy 10 and Loop 101. I believe the more scenic trip is up 177 to 77 into Globe, 70 and 60/70 west to 188 north. Either way is about a 300 plus a few mile run.

The January run to "JAKE's CORNER" on Hwy 188 for lunch (open flame burgers and barely/malt/hops flavored water) is schedule to leave the valley Saturday the 25th. The plan is run through the Mazatzals to the north and east. For the Phoenix and surrounding area, we will be leaving Chandler (yup Whole Foods parking lot at Ray Road and 101) at about 9:30 - stopping at Fort McDowell Casino parking lot just off of Hwy 87 around 10:00. We will meet toward the east end of the parking lot. I am trying to get a Fiero Flag. Maybe I’ll just fly the black “WE DRIVE EXCITEMENT” phoenix-bird T-shirt. The plan is to leave their lot around 10:15 and pulling in to JAKE's about 11 - 11:30. The trip back can be through one the western shores of Lake Roosevelt and on toward Globe and Hwy 60 back into Phoenix or retrace the mountain curves back toward Scottsdale. It is roughly a 160 mile round trip from Chandler.
February’s get together is undecided. Probably will be later in the short month, 22nd or 23rd. Likely another short run and a bite to eat somewhere local. Any west siders want to chime in on any good haunts.
We are looking at the March event to be attending the 2014 BOP Car Show at the PAVILIONS in Scottsdale. Last time I went I entered the two cars in the show. Ron won as I recall. The organizer says 49 classes - Classic, Limited Editions, Sports and Late Models. Are Fieros Limited Editions, Sports or Late Models? I may have to get opinions. I will be post more information on the event. See the attachment. I am still thinking that the April Event will be a cruise to Tucson for the all GM motorama at Quail Canyon. I was told the organizers would like to have a big 30th Anniversary Fiero display. They are trying to bring Mr. John Schinella (part of the original Fiero design team) there as a VIP guest from Detroit. Plans and information will be forwarded as it becomes available to me. I used to work Saturdays, this Saturday will be the first I haven't been scheduled I think since I started. The downside is I'm not sure I'll have the extra gas $ among my other bills to make the trip up there plus the run >_< I'm hoping I can squeeze it together and manage to drag my girlfriend along.

All,
The run to Jakes Corner went off without a hitch. Three 88’s, two red GTs and a black Formula traveled a total of 220 mikes on the run. Add about 50 miles for the two cars from the NW valley that joined the cruise in Chandler. The open flame barbequed burgers were as good as I remember them. I still have to figure out how to properly post a picture in this forum.
The NW folks have been challenged to propose a low-cost location for the February event. If we do not have a candidate by mid-month, plan a lunch at TED’s on Baseline in Tempe - http://www.tedshotdogs.com/ , or maybe a run for some pie up to Black Canyon City Rock Springs Cafe http://www.rockspringscafe.com/ ; http://www.rockspringscafe.com/pies.html ; ?
Stay tuned for future actions.
Best
KevinS
P.S.
Just got notice that the Tucson show was cancelled for 2014.

How do you post Pic on this forum?

Kevin;
Sounds like you guys had a good time. I vote for Rock Springs in Feb. Their breakfast is really good and the pie is an extra added bonus.

That's a shame the Tucson show was cancelled, I was really looking forward to it. I also discovered a couple days ago something is rattling around in the front end... I believe it may be control arm bushings.

D,
I remember roasting the A-frames on my 85 a few years ago to get those old units out. It wasn't that bad a job. I put the A-frames on after the steaks. A good chance to powder coat the units while they we out, and see how the harbor freight painting system worked. Small enuff part - it did pretty good.
Good luck with that project.
So, what is between here and there that would make a "good" place to cruise into?
Give it some thought and let me know. I am looking for an alternate for April.

Florence is semi-close to halfway, so is Casa Grande... those are the only 2 larger areas that come to mind as far as distance goes.

I usually follow Cruisin' Arizona for show dates/locations.

There's a show in both Casa Grande & Florence in March, and again in Casa Grande in September.
