Any budy know what those signal light cameras are for?I would say here in California 1/3 of the signal lights have them (and Im not talking about the signal switch used by emergency vehicles,that sorts looks like a cam).

No,Ive seen those big boxes.These are slender tube shaped cameras about 10 inches in length at the very top of the signal light (I can see the coax cable comeing out the back).

Most likely they are cameras available for the use of local news studios/media for doing traffic news/reports and such... not to show the reporter, but to show the traffic conditions and such.

We have them here for traffic monitoring. Not speeding or violations, just traffic flow monitoring.

I thought this was about a mod which put little digital cameras in your turn signals to record accidents when turning...

We have 3 kinds of cameras around town here:

1- catch people running red lights in some key intersections
2 - weather/traffic cams ( the are all over the damned place )
3 - general surveillance.. ( the real irritating ones as far as im concerned .. i dont like being watched )

We havent got to the point of having 'speeding cameras', but they are coming.
