As some of you may already know but most of you don't, I have recently took posession of project hurricane as of tonight. Currently the car is now sitting in my driveway next to my GT (I think they're talking). This thread will be used to document what gets done to the car for now on. I have easy internet access at home, work, and school so there shouldn't be any reasons on long times w/o communication. To keep in good trusts, my email is both jguer003@odu.edu and joe@intcomgrp.com.
Ok, now its too dark to take pictures but I will go over some things I noticed. For the care to be safely driven, it needs a new FR caliper, the current one is frozen (made for an interesting drive home ) Some other things wrong with the car that I noticed;
No headliner or passenger door liner Passenger headlight motor broken Driver headlight doesn't have high beam Driver side rear view mirror cracked No reverse lights FR caliper frozen Appears the RR has a slow leak (low when I picked the car up) A/C clutch making some funky noise
Other than that, she seems pretty good. I do have an extra headlight/motor and driver side mirror. Everything else would have to be looked into/donated. Speaking of which, I say everyone needs to figure out what the hell is going to happen to this car. We can either;
A.) Fix it, get it nice, auction it off. Take proceeds and donate to hurricane victims
B.) Leave it as is, auction it off. (ditto)
C.) Fix it, give it to someone who may have lost their beloved fiero to the hurricane.
D.) Leave as is, (ditto)
I have next to zero financial backing on this. I'm a broke college student. In this, I would donate the time, but would ask for both parts and financial donations.
If we DO give the car away in lottery, how would the winner get the car? If the person who won the car lives in texas, how are they going to get it?
Also, calling all vendors who donated. Please email me at joe@intcomgrp.com and lemme know what you donated. Except Mr. Mike. I plead he send me another set of those seats for my GT. . . (They're GORGEOUS) (I know you have a set laying around )
But if anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Looking foward to completing this the right way!
Edit: Just made a parts needed ad in the Mall, if you can help, please do so.
Well, I had a blowout the other day and haven't been able to get it fixed yet. Because of that, I ended up having to walk 5 miles to work the other morning. While walking, I passed a towing company and when I approached it, I thought, it would be nice for them to have a Fiero for me to salvage from them for when I start tearing my car up. Sure enough, I caught a glimpse of a red SE sitting in there.
I called them later and they said they dont have the keys to it and it is on silent auction. I am going to stop by and look at it tomorrow and I'll check to see if it would be a good parts car. Do you think you might need any parts off of such a car?
I want to do what I can to help. Money is tight for me too. I'm working two full time jobs to fund my ZZ4 project but I'll do what I can if you decide to go the fix'er up route.

The car new rear struts (Monroe) new front shocks (Monroe) quite few gray interior trim pieces ( the interior was brown originally) all new engine mounts from fiero store for the L4 new Die Hard battery full power mirror and lock harness and parts
Before the car was handed over the L4 got new plugs, wires, TPS, O2 sensor. 6X9 speakers were mounted under the dash in teh 4X10 spot and a new radio was in it.
Glad to see this may finally be getting back on track...
I'd say either auction it, and donate money to relief, or give car to one member who did not replace his/hers.
IF auctioning: Clean her up, and get a cheap MAACO paint job. Get her as nice as you can, then Auction off car, and get back $$ for paint. Give rest of $$ to victims.
IF Donating to Forum member: Make her a safe driver. Fix her, but don't spend $$ on paint. Get names of people that did not have $$ to replace their car, and have someone pull the name out of the hat. They need a running car.. not a gorgeous one.
I think auctioning would have the best bang for the buck, and you'd be better able to help a wider group of people..
It's almost been a year.. I think most forum members have replaced their cars.. Not sure how you'd know which members would need it most?.. Hence auctioning

If I wanted to be a jerk about it, I would have taken back all of the parts that I put on it that I paid for like the $300+ wheels and tires, struts...
And from this current thread, we have the following:

Hmmm, appears to be two sets of struts mentioned....
It does seem like a lot of people have already replaced their Fieros one way or the other. One person that I know of hasn't replaced his is 4.9PFI Fiero. Random Task, do you have a PayPal account where financial support may be sent? Sending parts from Germany would not be worth while.

THe passenger headlight motor is not borken, there is something wrong with the wiring. As for the door panel, Joe has it. I gave it to him, along with the black carpet from the Fiero store to put on it. I don't have a heat gun so I never finished it.

SO I don't post for a few days, and the bad mounhting started. He has had the car for 2 weeks with NO progress! Or no progress posted. Just in case he never posted it before, the one time he came out and helped, he was the one that busted the front donated lip while on a "test drive". For the ones who continue to e-mail with bad things to say, knock it off. I don't have the car anymore, and I let about $1500 of my personal cash/parts drive off without a sigh. If the e-mails don't stop, I want all of my parts back that I paid for. I'm just getting too tired of the bad mouthing. I'm sure Cliff would not enjoy a slander lawsuit.

My command has e-mail Cliff and asked him to help stop the BS. There are some of you out there that have stuck by me, but there are a few that ruin it for the whole. Cliff is ultimately responsible for the happenings on this site. If anything law wise happens, it will first go towards the ones e-mailing me.

Good grief..you still here? Get a life man..2 weeks? I look at the before picture, and the result of God knows how many weeks of your 'work' on the car and see virtually nothing done. Joe took on the task of rectifying YOUR pathos, and you are here slandering him..and moaning about the nasty Cliff and his Forum for getting on your case. Go get your nappy changed, and stop your whining. For somebody whose Mummy won't let him use the internet, you sure bob up quite often now.$1500?? Where is it on the car???? You are a Jackass....

Oh, pardon me, $1000 not $1500. Thats ALOT of stuff for no work done to the car. Thats all of the stuff paid for out of my pocket. The diffrence between the things you wrote about me and the one thing I wrote about randomtask is that what you wrote is purely based on what you thought and not on fact. Fact, I'm tired of the e-mails. The car is no longer in my hands, $1000 worth of my parts drove away, It's been 2 weeks with no update on progress. Someone wrote that now the car is in the hands of someone older and with more experience.......HA....I'm older and have been around Fiero's for quite a bit longer than Random Task. Don't get me wrong, I too want to see the car finished, and I hope the RandomTask can do that. But I just see a double standard. FieroFetish, you are the #1 Complainer of this project..... What have you donated parts wise???? Money??? If you didn't trust me Random Task has had it for 2 weeks! What have you donated to him to help him finish? NOTHING! SO SHUT UP! Your the one that needs to get a life.
In case you didn't notice.I was the FIRST person to donate cash, you ignorant twat.Just get lost, and stop moaning. James, I'd be more than happy to have you contribute if you have something positive to say, but don't troll this thread badmouthing everyone else and saying how the world is against you. If thats what you're gonna do, then simply DON'T POST. I'm not coming down this weekend or ever again, you have may be $10 worth of parts. I'll cut my losses. I've made it extremely clear my conditions to several people before taking this project. You had good intentions, but instead of putting your big boy panties on, you would rather sit here and bad mouth everyone else, including me. I may be younger, but I know when to shut my mouth and take due criticism. When I went to pick the car up from you I had to literally BEAT THE DOOR DOWN because no-one answered the first several times and because you wouldn't answer the phone, after I TOLD you I was gonna be there. Your mom finally had to come to the door. I've been sitting here idly, very calm taking your criticism of me, but I'm done. Once you think you're exhonerated you post more in the last week than you have in the previous months.
P.S. Its only slander if its false.
So, onto the topic. FieroFan1 donated $50 to me. I used this money (with some left over) to pick up a FR caliper for the car (since the old one is frozen) and replaced that. I've taken the front fascia off and am buying a correct one. The car was attempted to converted to round molding but was missing about 80% of whats needed (look for some round molding parts in the mall here shortly) I've been absolutely hecticly busy the last couple of days. (My job has been pushing for a new product launch today and i've been working 14 hour days EVERY day) However, I always respond to my PM's and I'm easily contactable. There are some extra parts for the car, look for those for sale in the mall. I'm keeping track of all the money in an excel sheet so none will be wasted.
Right now the car runs and drives excellent, the only thing wrong is the AC clutch is toast and making a horrible noise. If anyone has a compressor I could buy or would be willing to donate, I would be much obliged. Buddycraigg, I also have several GEN1 motors, how hard would it be to convert it to that? Other than that, I want to install whats left before I give a list for more things needed, this way I'll KNOW what I need.
If anyone has any questions, you're more than welcome to ask.
Joe

I don't live with my mommy, I rent a room in this house. I used to have my own house, BUt now I can't afford it. My name is still on the title and was never signed over to you. I don't want to bad mouth you since you are actually taking on the task of finishing the car, but I would like the rotton e-mails and bad mouuthing at me stop. ANOTHER call was placed to my command today by a pissed off PFFer......and nothing will happen. They have read the forum, read the NCIS report, and are on my side. They know how much I have been in and out of the hospital, and how much bad mouthing goes on here. I have done nothing wrong besides TRY to do something good, and unexpected medical things happened to me that were out of my control and I could not post along with the reduction in pay that gave me extremely limited access to the internet. Now that I am not paying to put stuff into the car, and have had my rank re-instated, I can once again have regular internet access.

A.) You signed the title but never put it in your name. I'll have no problem getting a replacement title for it in MY name.
B.) I never sent a hate mail (or any for that matter) or ever called your superiors. The only thing I've ever done is share with a select few my opinions about you. You do so well to prove them too.
C.) You tried to do something good, thats understandable and appreciated. But you went about it completely wrong. Its bullshit, I SAW YOU ON THE COMPUTER THE FIRST NIGHT I WENT TO YOUR HOUSE! Better yet, after being MIA several months, I had listed my T-Tops on ebay, YOU CALLED ME ABOUT THEM NOT KNOWING IT WAS ME. THIS NO INTERNET ACCESS THING IS BULLSHIT. You got in over your head, but instead of admitting it, you blamed everyone else for the pressure. Wow, life sucks, get a helmet.
D.) You don't get your rank taken away and pay held for medical reasons. Anyone with a single digit IQ can tell you that. James, stop the bullshit. Just stop. You're digging yourself a hole you don't want to get into. IF you want this to stop, then stop trying to accuse everyone else for YOUR problems. In fact, refrain from posting.
I asked you what you suffer from "It's personal" on a trained response. I'm not retarded, I could see right through you. We've already given you the benefit of the doubt and you blew it. You kept grabbing your stomach and chest like you were in deathly pain yet you were smoking. My brother in law is a doctor. I asked him what it could be and he said theres NOTHING that it could be. The only thing I could think the military would kick you out for is a VD, yet you're grabbing your chest? James, we see through you. Man up. Seriously. You HAVE done something wrong and you have the audacity to blame EVERYONE else for your problems rather than saying "You know what, I was sick, I'm sorry things didn''t work out" and actually kept contact, you blipped off the face of the earth, answered your phone when YOU wanted to then when you DID come back blamed everyone else for your failure. Thats the mentality of an 11 year old. Grab your balls, say "I'm a man" and leave with dignity, don't try to drag this ship down, its too big for you.

No matter what I say, you don't believe me. I want my parts back. I do have a medical condition which is why I'm getting medically discharged. What is my personal problem? BiPolar with severe depression. I didn't mean YOU sent me the bad e-mails, but there is someone that is and I don't know who it is. As for getting buted down in rank, like I said before, I went to mast for a completely diffrent incident and I was going to be pardoned due to my evidence, BUT My Master Chief mentioned the Fiero and then thats when things went down the drain. The NCIS investigation was not complete but due to what the person said over the phone, that was DEFORMATION OF CHARACTER and I was awarded the punishment they gave me. I DID NOTHING WRONG! And I want my parts back. I still have the invoices for EVERYTHING.
Just let it go. Stop posting about this, stop complaining. You are not helping your cause in any way, iIt's all water under the bridge and there is nothing that any of us can do to change that. Asking for parts back after all that has happened just makes you look worse. Honestly, just back away from the keyboard and let it rest.

Cool down guys. To those who have extremely bad feeling about James (FOSD), he's out of it, leave him alone, quite calling his command, sending nastigrams, and posting negatives here. Let's quit kicking him around. It doesn't serve any purpose other than kick up a bunch of squabbling.
James, if I were you, I think I'd develop a thicker skin. Much thicker. And I'd quit PFF for a while and let things cool down a bit. You got into this thing way over your head and for whatever reason were unable to get it done in a timely manner. My dad used to say, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I still think you had good intentions, it was the execution of the project that fell apart. I think your fantasy was to build a show car. Show cars take a lot of time to build.
BTW, Cliff Pennock is in the Netherlands. Good luck trying to sue him for much of anything.
Obviously, I can't help much on the work from here. But Joe, could you post a list of the parts you need at this time? I have lots of stuff, and if I can help on parts, I will. And I'm really broke, but I'll contribute to a paint fund to get the thing somewhat pretty. Keep the paint job simple, tho, if it's black with silver ground effects, keep it black with silver ground effects. Etc. Wish it was closer, I'd work on it.
Now what I think should happen with the car.
I think it should be raffled off. I'd buy some chances for $10 each. Obviously I'd rather buy chances on a somewhat finished car. And if we did it right we could raise a bunch of cash for the Kat victims. It would be fairest to those members who lost out in the big storm of '05 if we could spread a little cash around rather equally. If just the active members of the Forum would each buy one $10 ticket, we could raise some fairly real cash.
And I really don't need another Fiero (it's a long way from sunny, dry Reno, too.) So if I would win it, I pledge to have Joe put it on Ebay (or Craigslist, or whatever) and I'll donate the proceeds to the hurricane fund. Maybe F-I-E-R-O could make up a commemorative badge?
James started this thing with the best of intentions. Those intentions are much more worthy than what I've read in this thread. Let's get it back on track and make this a flame free zone.

... but due to what the person said over the phone, that was DEFORMATION OF CHARACTER and I was awarded the punishment they gave me. I DID NOTHING WRONG! ....
Was this recent, or old stuff that you are still stewing over? I agree with the advice Brian Lamberts gave... and the other thing to consider is that if your Command is looking at this thread periodically, your current attitude/behavior probably will not sit too well with them. Take it to PM and email, however sometimes taking a step away from a situation is the best way to go.
edit - BTW, I thought you were on the track of salvaging this project in spite of the bad press since you started posting updates under a different name and then turned it over to someone else. Let's try to keep a positive spin on what is turning into a nightmare.
