I'm waiting to hear from Cliff. Perhaps we can utilize this thread to get this organized. Please let me know what you think of the ideas listed above. Dar - are you offering to collect money 'cause that is fine by me. You are an organized person! Cliffw - maybe you could coordinate a work crew?
I'm just going to keep writing to you here since the in the other thread you don't see this idea until you read halfway down and some people stop reading by then.
Thanks for the offer. If you can post your PayPal and snail mail address that would be a great start. What can I do to help you?
42 views and no one else has any thoughts? If each member donated $1 we'd have nearly 10k to help out our friends. Perhaps if we get an extreme amount we can donate some to Red Cross too.
Jen

I also agree that we keep this in one thread, and since I started the other one, I'll say this one is fine with me, thus, I'm going to ask that everyone post here and : "Cliff, would you close the other one please? Thank you."
Jenn, you may want to edit and paste Anthony's (Exotic Rida) address into your opening post. (Thanks for the update Anthony)

I have $200.00 immediate if this thing ever gets organized and even if not. Some are going to need it more than others. $50.00 dollars a victim may not help the best way. I have been through a disaster or two with Red Cross/ FEMA aid. We do not need to duplicate their efforts. This thing is gonna be on going. If they can not live there for two months or so, they have no jobs for two months at least.

Nothing personal Fierochick, I know your heart is in the right place. BUT If you all would donate to the Red Cross or Salvation army MORE of your money would go for disaster relief. Why are you donating 4.4 percent to Paypal? Also, in a time when the phones and electricity aren't working how are you getting money to the members--and what will they do with it? I 'spect there aren't many groceries open down there to take the cash.

Maybe some of us did donate to the red cross. This was a direct way to help people we talk to every day.

I have an idea Jen that can make $10,000 fairly easily. I will start another thread about it. Are you and Fierogirlsmum able to administer it and collect the money? Link to new thread soon. Read here. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/054260.html

We already heard from one of our members, he's displaced in GA. That would be Exotica Rida, he said he lost everything. I personally expressed him a money order for $100 yesterday so he could buy some underwear, socks, shirts, maybe jeans too. I couldn't imagine not having a change of clothes to wear. When we hear from the other people, whether it be a few weeks from now, or tomorrow. I figure they will need food, water, maybe shelter. Plus, I'm sure they don't have jobs anymore, so I think money will be best to hold them over. I'm keeping close track of the money I'm getting and trying to document it on here in case things go horribly wrong. If they do, then I'll send the money back to everyone. Although, since we heard from one and he heard from his friend (4.9, he's in the superdome) I'm sure we will be able to send the money to them if no one else. And yes, the paypal thing sucks, that's why I'm getting money orders from some people.
Oh and by the way. I want to thank all of you that trust me well enough to do this. Most of you wouldn't know me if I bumped into you crossing the street!

As stated, I would love to. My schedule makes it permissable as I work a week on then am off for a week. I have thought of the first thing I can do. I recently went through 100 and 500 year floods. The sediment from receding waters is unbelievable. It needs to be power washed out. Possibly after much shoveling. Many things will need to be power washed also so they can be reused. I have an industrial grade professional trailer mounted steam cleaner which can supply two wands. I think I have everthing I need to rig it up as such. When we can get in there it will be very useful. I volunteer to go as far as New Orleans and help clean up. I also have a small portable pressure washer like you see in Home Depot I can leave up there. It can be passed around anywhere in the affected area. If anyone has an immediate need I can check into shipping it out that way. Not sure if it is feasable, just an idea. Another idea. I believe FocusRush has offered to replace damaged Fieros with ones we can muster up and make ready. I thought that if each of the closest Fiero clubs would haul out one of the affected Fieros and through club effort repair it (tech sessions), our friends would love to have their own cars back.

Point taken but as someone said most of us have already donated to the Red Cross and want to help our members in need directly. Though it will be a while til we hear from some of them, the money will be here when we do. Most of the hard hits will be evacuated and need money to get on their feet (like Exotic Rida). As far as PayPal, I am going to try and get them to waive their fees. I'm currently awaiting a response. But at least, fees or not, some people will donate online when they otherwise wouldn't get around to sending a check or M.O.

We have several ideas to help PFF hurricane victims:
FGM- collecting money and sending directly to those in need. ( in progress)
Aus- Raffle scoops and Mr. Mikes 5$ a ticket. Money goes to FGM and is retro active for all members that donated already. ( FGM should start sending out tickets to previous donators.)??
Fiero focus- project Hurricane started as fiero for victim ,now might be part of AUS raffle?? IMHO keep original idea pick name out of hat( so to speak) with only names of the pff'ers that lost cars. ( please decide soon)
Many PFFers have offered car parts - awsome idea. someone needs to inventory donations of this type for use when needed by victims. May be awhile down the road but still great to think ahead.
As always RED CROSS is a great idea, although not fiero forum specific.
I will be donating soon but wanted to see if I uderstood the multiple threads correctly.

The "money related" efforts are listed at the top of this thread but the raffle one is vague yet as Aus needs to firm up donations to the raffle from Vendors. Once that is done tickets will be able to be purchased from Darlene. An announcement will be made when this can occur. This is seperate from the donations we received thus far - basically an additional effort unless Aus decides he wants us to give tickets to those who already donated.
The other efforts are actual Fieros and parts that are being coordinated by various members outside of this thread.
Also, Cliffw has offered to head up a work crew when the time comes. More info on that will follow.

We bank with Wells Fargo. They offer a service called Bill Pay. I am sure many banks have the same type of thing. I can pay anything electroniacally by entering some info.

I don't know, the wife does it. I do know she goes to a screen from our banks website and basically follows prompts. I think PayPal sucks ane are also making money from us not realizing that we do not need them. Why would we want them to have sensitive information. The less the better. Banks usually have pretty sophisticated security measures and they offer account protection to their members.
