I can't say I've *ever* thought about shooting a place up. Though I have had dreams where I've magically teleported next to... Vladamir Putin, Ayatolla, Hitler, or Kim Jung Un... and I've got a gun. Answer is simple... I'm dead either way, might as well take one for my country and solve a problem. But here's where I think what the speaker says is flawed... no sane person would ever contemplate shooting up a bunch of innocent people. That's just not a thing. I grew up with Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, etc... so I experienced violent games just as much as the next younger Gen-Xer, or any of the Millennials. Hell... I even hacked the SpectraVision box in the hotel that my father managed, and had full access to pornography from 11-12 until my parents found out. So I've been exposed to all kinds of trash... and still, never once thought about shooting up or blowing up anything.
I agree with a lot of what he says, and I know people can allow themselves to get to a dark point in their lives... but there's a difference between sane and insane. No sane person believes mass-murder is a solution to anything..
It’s quite refreshing to see critical thinking without the laziness of extremism. You always seem more interested in the exploration of a problem rather then the domination of it. You seem quite comfortable with not pretending that you have all the answers or the necessity of divisions to stupidly simplify the problem.
Every one of us is completely capable of going off the deep end, be it voluntary or involuntary. 100% empathy is not a given, for anyone.

Possession of a firearm while intoxicated is covered under Federal firearm laws.

Federal and most State laws dictate no personal use of firearms while under the influence of intoxicating substances.
If you're not carrying or handling when intoxicated, no law is broken.
There are more than enough firearm regulations on the books, what is lacking is enforcement of those laws, and also Fed funding of unfunded Fed mandates. (Background checks)
Well if we are going to use broad statements for gun ownership (drinking/drug use) than I say we must also apply any hatred or opinion towards another race, religion, gender, political view, insert whatever you want, should also be considered. I am sure there are many on this forum who are firearm owners who would fall into this category, as not being fit to own a weapon. As long as you pass the established guidelines in your state or others (as I am currently going through UTAH checks) then the 2nd amendment applies to the individual, much like the 1st amendment allows us to utter what ever we wish to say, as long as it is not terroristic in nature. With this said, I do hope that what ever new laws they plan on putting into effect, do have a better ability to weed out the crazies, but alas I doubt it.
The laws are written, as stated, that you are not allowed to consume alcohol, drugs, or be intoxicated while armed in public. I follow those laws to a "T". I will not be your front page news. Ever.
We do not need more gun laws. We absolutely should be shouting from the mountain tops that laws need to be followed.
