If you keep the file size of images below 2MB, then they will embed in a post just fine here. Above 2MB, and a hyperlink icon will instead appear (like above).

There's no need for an image of your boots to be 4000x1848 pixels, and 3MB in size. A maximum width of 1920 pixels for any image here is plenty!

(Reprocessed image below is 1920x887 pixels, 1.3MB file size.)

That doesn't actually seem likely.

Some Androids won't downsize without significant croppiing.
Google does it intentionally I've been told, to use up your meager default storage space, but of course, Google will be happy to sell you additional storage...

Both mine and wife's Androids suffer from this...

My new Motorola phone only has 2 options for resolution, high and standard, no idea what the actual resolution is for either. This is very common.

I had a look at my ancient (by phone standards) Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (which I use mostly for controlling a bunch of security cams), running Android 11, and I have seven options for photo resolution and six options for video.

Even if the newer phones are locked in at higher resolutions, I suspect there are plenty of free apps available to resize the images. On my Windows PC I use IrfanView.
