I saw this on Vise Grip Garage, Derek install one in his truck. I liked the look and the install looked easy.

I ordered one on the jungle website, received it the next day. When I looked at the instructions, I saw all these wires and RCA connectors, I was thinking Oh no, what did I get myself into !!

After a few minutes, I realized, Oh this is going to be easy. I removed the stock radio last night.

I had the new unit hooked up and playing in like 10 minutes.

In 1st video I didn't know how to work it, the 2nd video show more.

The GPS worked great.

This is what it looked like with the dash put back in place.

Nice, did you use an adapter? I have been looking for a replacement for my Mustang, see several that will support the subs I have but haven't pulled the trigger.

It's nice when something actually ISN'T a PITA and goes smoothly.

Enjoy the upgrade!

The adaptor comes with the unit. You take the cable that was connected to the stock radio, and plug it into the adaptor that is hooked into the new touch screen unit. It's plug & play. .

When you order one, you simply select make & model & year of your vehicle. They send a unit with the correct connector and programming to match your cars features. If the steering wheel has radio controls, the touch screen can use those. It has a bunch of options you can program.

Boy, you said it, I didn't think it would be that easy, but it was. I'm still learning the system, trying out a casting app that lets you mirror your phone screen to the touch screen. That lets you access the music stored on the phone and what ever else you want.

Yes it's loud enough. It does give you the option to adjust the volume output. The Suburban has a separate factory amp that is still hooked up with the factory wiring. So yes, it's loud enough !

Nice fit. I just finished installing this Sony XAV100 in my car, picked it up for $80. I have the same radio in my Saab that I bought new back in 2017 or 2018. I really like the controls and the volume knob. Unfortunately it's quite rare to fit a radio with a knob nowadays.

A few more shots as I'm learning what the unit can do. The phone and GPS work great, I mounted the mic on the column shifter, it was a convenient place.

I found out the trucks speed sensitive volume still works, it must be part of the trucks amplifier, which has 8 speakers. The phone & radio & GPS volume is increased & decreased related to the speed.

This was an interesting shot, see what I did ?

This shows the original backup monitor that is still hooked up. I piggybacked the video signal to the larger monitor.

I have a set of switches to pwr on & select camera 1 or 2

That looks really good!

I'm in the process of installing an Alpine ILX-507 in my Wrangler.
The actual head unit itself should only take a couple of hours, even with my OCD install practices. The real b!tch was running the cable for the backup cam, which the Jeep never had, from the factory, and "rescuing" the OEM USB connector from underneath the console. It had gotten knocked out of place, sometime in its previous life.
It came with all the adapters and harnesses to make it "plug and play" in my vehicle, including an interface for the steering wheel controls and OBD port.

An important side note...
I've had two GM vehicles - a 2004 Trailblazer and a 2005 Silverado - that I installed iPod adapters with the stock head unit.
Those adapters plug into the harness between the factory plug and the headunit.
I don't know exactly what caused the problem, but over time, both vehicles started exhibiting random electrical gremlins. Just bumping the radio, and shaking the connection, caused the problem to clear up.
My speculation is that the adapters were "noising up" the CANBUS, maybe due to dis-similar (or maybe just "cheap") metals causing corrosion or a bad connection. All of the connected modules in the vehicles couldn't "hear" one another. As soon as I removed the adapters, the gremlins went away.

Thanks. I like the look of the Alpine ILX-507 and the "real" buttons along the bottom.

I got lucky with the back up cam, I installed it years ago, just needed a 2 to 1 RCA adaptor to tie it in. I have a second screen in the dash that I can turn on manually (comes on in reverse). When I have the trailer hooked to the truck, it has a 2nd camera on the rear that I can switch to, comes in handy to see tailgaters & backing up.

"I found out the trucks speed sensitive volume still works"

You mean the car automatically does the "turn down the volume when you are about to park" thing?

The loud pedal on the right makes the tunes louder.

If you still use a wired smart phone - or a thumb drive for your music - you may find this useful.

I alluded to my console-compartment-mounted USB jack, in my previous post.
I have decided to do away with that completely, for now. There are other options available if I decide that I need it later on, which is doubtful.

I found this on Amazon. It is - theoretically - sized perfectly to fit in the nearly useless cigarette lighter/power socket hole in my dash.
It'll be here tomorrow. (The head unit has two USB cables. One for data and charging, and one for charging only. This should work nicely.)
