I can not explain this. I saw it as I walked across a Best Buy parking lot in Killeen Tx last week and snapped the photo. ?????????

I drive a Ram. A white one, even. As if that matters. Makes as much sense as anything else, at this point.

I have no f'n clue what he's trying to accomplish. Unless he's trying to dissuade tailgaters. (Think "Pinto".)

Now that I think about it, I have done this before myself. Tied the empty gas can off inside the truckbed to keep it from coming out, drive somewhere and the wind blows the can out over the tailgate and i never noticed it when I got out because I didn't go around the back of the truck............. till I got back home and parked again.. at least that's 1 personal explanation.

And it makes sense. Much better sense than the "Pinto" scenario.

Looks like it was tied so it doesn't blow away, probably blew out of the box when driving down the road.. I'd assume it's generally tighter so it can't move though.

This seems to be the most likely reason. I always secure my fuel cans in the back of my truck. But that's more to keep them upright and secured so they don't slide around possibly spilling or if empty to keep them easily accessible rather than being in the middle of the bed when I want to retrieve them. Climbing up into the bed is a PITA. Never had one blow out of the bed before but, I guess that's possible.
It is Texas ya know.

Rams

For a second there, I thought there was a hose going into that gas can, sorta like a redneck external fuel tank, nope, just the black spout.
