Most home electronics are now "throw-aways". It's cheaper to replace than repair. At least, here.
There is an interest in vintage stereo equipment, however. I'm finishing up my shop, and am going to experiment on some of my own stuff. I may give it a go, if I'm successful with my own.
There are several commercial two-way shops around. It's been decades since I worked at one. I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like, these days. I would suspect that, with the level of automation and SMDs, that most of that has been reduced to troubleshooting to board level, only. Fixed station transmitters may be a different story.
Lots of broadcast engineers are retiring. Coincidentally, the stations are being snapped up by investors, who don't want to pay decent money for technical skills. I'm not sure where THAT is going to go.
