Warning: Gasbuddy and any app that uses the Arity API (owned by AllState) collects your driving data and sells it to insurance companies. Those insurance companies use that data to adjust your rates. Arity created an API which they allow app developers to use. As part of the agreement to use said API Arity collects data on the user. The App developer may not disclose or even know that Arity is collecting the user's driving data.

Texas is suing AllState and Arity.

Avoid app from any of these companies:

Also, GM's OnStar has been doing the same thing for years.

In my Android, you can specify when apps have access to your location, and to physical activity.
I chose "only when using app", for Gas Buddy, and others. Most of them are set to "never".

State Farm offered me a discount for installing their app. Yeah... no.

Not just apps. Most late model vehicles have a way to collect driving data on your vehicle. And there are companies buying and selling data. Even if you have an older vehicle without a data collection box, there are still ways that your info is being monetized.
Look up LexisNexis
