Have you guys heard about the hack that caused hundreds (or more) pagers to explode today?

Maybe they tweaked the charging/battery circuit? Wonder if it was in the hardware all along, and then triggered? or was it an "update/patch" sent today?

Reports say the pagers were called prior to the explosions so they were more likely to be with the person at the time of the attack...

Imagine if they someone did that to all iPhones, or Teslas (or other brand of EV).

This is something to think about - most of us have devices with internal batteries and are connected to the internet.lcell phones and laptops and ittle webcams and doorbells and such...

Remember how "normal" Septmber 10th was?

I'm pretty sure these were not hacked but rigged. Nothing inside a pager can explode so violently. They use small Li-Ion batteries which can "explode", but nowhere near with such violence. All pagers that exploded were from a single batch of pagers that were distributed only recently. So I'm pretty sure these were rigged with explosives.

We tested "battery stuff" out a few years ago (didn't share the video because we didn't want people copying it and getting hurt - laptop batteries CAN explode violently, but you literally need to stab it. a cellphone will "light up and pop", but again, they need to be pierced. Some folks with scoothers/wheel board thingies have had their batteries ignite... but yeah, the videos and images I've seen, that damage seems caused by expolosives...

This. Exactly this. No way a normal pager can explode with that kind of force.
I did 40+ years in the telecom/radio industry, to include pager repair. These devices were rigged. Probably triggered by a specific code. (THAT part is easy.)

I also just read that the entire batch of pagers was distributed amongst Hezbollah warriors. So, yeah.

Back about 30 years ago I had to carry a pager.
There were many times that I wished it would have exploded.

This was a comment on one of the many news articles.
==================

Apart from the deaths and injuries, as a former intelligence officer in the US Army, I can tell you that this has multiple tangential impacts which should be both recognized and applauded. First, the obvious chilling effect that comes from never knowing what if any, electronic device you can trust.

Next, the absolute disruption of trusted lines of communication.

Then, the internal blame game focused on responsibility and, perhaps, culpability ( was it an inside job).

The diminishment of morale is obvious but what is less obvious is the reduction in trust for leadership. If you, as comrade, a family member, etc was injured or killed it will likely result in loss of trust in the leadership which both provided the pagers and directed you to use them.

Finally, this mission was akin to 3d chess played against an opponent who is barely capable of playing checkers. The shock and awe of the scope, reach, finesse and impact cannot be overestimated. It will ripple throughout the intelligence services of every country in the world. This is unlike anything we would have thought possible. It is more like science fiction, than contemporary warfare.

==================
Paraphrased by my wife: "It was a mind fsck. A very successful mind fsck."

Silly Putty implies there is a serious putty...

There is. we call it c4 and it doesn't take much, tho just little bits will make a nice hot fire and is good for heating up c-rations and a canteen cup of water, for nasty c-ration powdered coffee or cocoa which otherwise would just float around on top of the cold water in your metal canteen cup. ...

Infidel! Infidel!
Answer your page infidel!!

They were used for security purposes. Apparently cell phones were deemed too easily compromised.

Talk about "bombing them back to the stone age!" I think they might have done it.

If I was a terrorist, I'd be afraid on my coffee maker.
