I've been casually "window shopping" for a car trailer. There's a place local to me that recently started carrying JMA trailers. They seem to make some nice stuff, incuding several 5" channel framed models. (Their old brand was Maxbuilt. Those got some pretty terrible reviews.)
There's not much in the way of reviews for JMA, but they appear to be built by JMA Welding, near Muscle Shoals AL. In business since 2018.
That being the case, they may not be too widely known, outside the southeast.

Anybody know anything about them? Thanks!

Never heard of them and a quick google search didn't result in finding a sire site to view or gain any knowledge.

5 inch frame? What guage is the metal? That sounds like a pretty heavy duty trailer frame but, there's a lot more that goes into the strength of such a trailer. Bumper pull I assume? Covered or open trailer? Tilt bed?

Steve, I don't know how much you want to spend, but Country Boys Trailers has been in business for a long, long time. I know they're over here and you're over there, but these guys build some good trailers. They don't list a "car hauler" as such, but here's one that might meet your needs.

A&A in Jonesboro has some in the $3500-$4500 range.

This is the most basic version of the ones I've been seeing pop up. They offer bunches of upgrades - most of which I don't need.
Of course they don't specify what the weight of the C-channel is.

Charlie, I looked at your link. They have a menu item for car haulers, but - 0 - listed. The one on the front page of the link only has a 12' bed.

Yes, I noticed that. I suppose they sub the equipment trailers for that purpose. I saw one like your pic, but it had a lift up left fender to allow exiting from the driver's side of a vehicle. That dove tail is a plus for Fieros.

A thought. Most car rentals like Hertz and Enterprise have dollies and car haulers that they use for bringing disabled rentals back to the rental lot. They periodically liquidate as they replace and upgrade. I used to repair them for Spirit Car Rental and most only needed brake pads or fenders replaced. A good Demco dolly with hydraulic surge and safety brakes would go for 2-3 hundred.

The removable fender, and the spare tire, would be upgrades that I would have to spring for. The aluminum mag wheels, not so much.

And if I was interested in a dolly, Demco is what I would look for. That's what Don had. (His had been jack-knifed and repaired. The tongue was a bit shorter than "stock".

I have been using a Kaufman trailer to haul cars for about four years. Mine is designed for low clearance cars, has a tilt bed, removable fenders, and a mounted spare tire. This is available near Charlotte, NC and is not that far from me. It is all steel with no boards to warp and need replacement. IIRC, the initial cost was a bit over $3k and it can handle 7000 plus pounds with the right tow vehicle.

Good info. Kaufman is pretty highly regarded, I believe. But that "bit over $3K" is pre-covid pricing. I'm guessing that now it's over $5K.

But at least it's well optioned, including brakes on both axles, as GA requires.
Most of the local guys only do brakes on one axle. I suppose it's a good idea for both, but I don't know how likely it is that I would be caught or ticketed. Don't really think it would be unsafe, but I don't do a lot of towing, either.

and around the state

dolly is lighter by a lot so better stopping and mileage to
much better then my big duel axle boat trailer plus a 5k sailboat with brakes

I would not use a trailer unless I had too

and rent one when I need one
