Hello my dysfunctional and lovable fiero family! I've been slinking around the mall trying to get parts for my fiero and just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've got some massive congestion (hooray pollen) so I took the day off to do a couple small jobs on my car, help a guy pack up my sprinter I just sold, and catch up with the forum.

I've got this new dog (well, for the last few years) who has been hanging with me. Her name is Tohatchi, I found her out in the NM desert when she was a pup and she turned out to be an amazing smart as can be dog. She's the only reason I have a roof over my head, she matters more than I do. Elvis is still around, currently hanging with the ex and getting to be a little old fella. I get custody next month for a while. I Lost Bertha Beagle back in 2018, and honestly still haven't recovered. That was a hell of a dog "We shall never see her like again " She took a part of me with her.

Just been working. I've had 6 surgeries on my hands and arms in the past 3 years. My hands don't work for **** anymore, fingers lock up all the time. Makes it hard to play guitar. That's life, at least I can still use my hands, my left went completely dead in February as my cubital tunnel was completely crushed. That surgery probably saved me from complete self destruction..without guitar, even crappy playing as my hand allows, I don't have a lot to look forward to.

I hung up the tattoo machines two years ago when my hands started being problematic. It was my promise to my clients and myself to only do the work if I could execute flawlessly. I noticed a couple hiccups in my processes and shut it down. I won't leave a trail of screwed up work and skin in my wake just because my ego was telling me to press on. My commitment was to provide my best, and unfortunately that is just no longer possible. Stupid hands. 23 years is long enough to do anything, am I right? Sold my shop and now it's a bar, place looks amazing they did a great job on it.

I'm kicking around at the local Amazon warehouse... the money would be good if it was 2012 😃 I actually enjoy the work, and get a nice workout every night. No more weight issues and I eat like a horse..the truck, it seems, was move more. Way more. And it worked. I get by in so little I'm making it work...how much does anyone really need? Well, I'm finding out and still saving a little back every week.

I bought a city bus about a year ago and have been converting it into an RV because...well... That's what I do. Every time I see a weird vehicle, immediately my mind goes there. "I could convert that.." Getting pretty handy with solar and 12v, I love designing custom power systems to fit the needs of RVs and tiny homes. It's a hobby, but gonna get an EIN and turn it all into the tax deductions. Boom!

Got back into tabletop wargames, especially Battletech which is going through a Renaissance here as its 40th year approaches. Content producers like Tex Talks Battletech and Big Red 40k are as responsible as anyone for how I spend my free time and money. I haven't had this much fun gaming since I was 14 years old...and I'm pushing 50 so that was quite a while ago. It's how you stay young, guys ..well...that and don't have children. I still don't have a wrinkle or gray hair...but neither did my dad until I hit my teenage years.

Speaking of, lost the old man in 2015. Lung cancer. Flew down to say goodbye and his eyes gleamed as he said "no..I'll see you LATER". I sure hope so. There may be a thing or two I've done I know he would have liked a great deal, wouldn't mind hearing him say just once "I'm proud of you." I guess we'll see in the next iteration.

And I miss my friends here, and I apologize I only blow through now and then like a tumbleweed. Life is a wild ride, it's hard to hold on tight and not let go of a couple things here and there. Will try to be a little more involved, but I hope everyone is well and sucking the marrow out of this life. Could be the only one we get.

Enough blabber! I have to bleed this slave cylinder in the dark because of all this typing!

Excelsior!

Well crap. He is back. Coffee is hot, beer is cold in the fridge, and I think ya probably know how a frying pan works. Bacon is in the freezer. You can figure it out.

Still love that Pug avatar.

Merlin went to some big grass field in the sky a few days ago. Knowing him it probably took about 2 seconds to find some tire to bite and bark at. Then wag a tail and raid heavens stash of bacon strips. General Lee and Atticus are still here. I'm awake at 4 am because a dog smaller then most cats decided I needed to have my face washed and get the hell up to take him out. Thanks General, I appreciate that. Again.

Dont be such a stranger, dude.

First off, allergies; I never ever had any SUGGESTION of allergies until...I was in the Navy and had to get a shot of Penicillin for an infection...6 months later I was driving in some ranch land south of Livermore in the spring- and I started sneezing, my eyes were watering, etc...My buddy had to drive us out of there. From then on, I would miss a couple of days work every year due to allergy attacks.

I also developed some stomach issues- previously, I could eat anything, 2 months after that first allergy attack, I was at a pool party and ate some spicy pizza- and then thought I was going to die!

After 8-9 years, my GF at the time suggested trying some yogurt for the stomach issues.....It helped, but a few years later I realized that I wasn't suffering the allergy attacks anymore (I would still sneeze a few times, but that was it)

Our immune system is like our muscles- it needs exercise....By going after the bacteria in our gut....so, maybe try eating some yogurt, which contains helpful bacteria.

Second, dogs; My beautiful dog Skye, who ran away from someone who was abusing her and came to me, contracted Lyme disease and the stupid Vet didn't know what her symptoms were- she still lived 7 more years but had pain from joint issues (Lyme in dogs manifests mainly as Arthritis symptoms) I had to finally put her down in 2019- the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

I did this artwork originally for my (Now ex) GF's dog after we had to put her down due to cancer...There is a story out there of a family who had to do it and included their young son...after, they were sitting around talking and one person stated, "Why do dogs live such short lives?" and the boy spoke up, stating "We are put on Earth to learn how to love and treat others well- dogs already know how, so they don't have to be here as long"

I hope this may help you a bit- life can be fun- but sometimes, it ain't easy....

Still in Ohio. Same country, different location. I'm an hour away from Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus and still barely visit any of them if I can help it. I love being a country mouse, the older I get the more weary of civilization I become. I figure we have that in common nowadays 😃. It's really good to "see" you too, Don. I am trying to plan a winter trip to the SW and I promise if I do, I'll come see your new digs. Right now I'm just nose to the grindstone and trying to make some dough for another property purchase. Just land, no buildings. I sold my Montana property last year, that's a story in and of itself...maybe one for O/T down the road.

I am starting over and relearning the forum. Do we still need a photo host website? I may have to set something new up but let me tell you she's a beauty..kinda a border collie, German short hair pointer and pitbull mix. Tall and lanky with long legs. Very athletic and super friendly. She's New Mexican so she loves the sun and hot days, unlike me haha. I'll see what I can do about pics as soon as my work week ends tomorrow. You'll see her soon.

We've never needed to use a non-PFF photo host website here.* There was always PIP, however, even PIP is no longer required. Use the new uploading link that Cliff Pennock has implemented. Couldn't be easier to post an image. Just make sure you're logged in before trying to post (...and if the image file size is greater than 2MB, a clickable hyperlink icon will appear in place of the image).

Looking forward to seeing the hound!

* I forget... but maybe when PFF first appeared 24 years ago, PIP didn't exist, but nevertheless it was available shortly thereafter.

Perhaps he is thinking of avatars.
I believe we always (back then) did need a host to post an avatar. I haven't looked at pp lately but if memory serves me correctly, it asked for a url of whatever photo you wanted as an avatar. There was (and may still be) a pip test site and that's how I did my original avatar; posted it on the pip test area, then used the url of that test image to get my avatar up.

PFF avatar instructions:

quote
Avatar

Enter the URL to a small image that will serve as your Avatar. The system will download the image from this location and store it locally on the PFF server. An Avatar will be displayed below your username in every forum post you make. The maximum size of an avatar is 70x70 pixels, if your avatar is larger, the forum software will automatically scale it down for you (be aware that if you use a transparent gif, and it needs to be scaled, it will loose it's transparent properties!). Do not use offensive or inappropriate images, or an immediate ban from the forum might follow! Also be aware with those filesizes. If your avatar is over 100K, it will eventually be deleted by the system automatically.

(pip actually worked very well and I suppose it still does)

I did something similar. I believe I originally uploaded my avatar image using PIP to post in an old thread... and then used that image URL for setting up my avatar. Toady and I go back a long way.

I still to this very day link to images stored in my PIP History folder. I wish there was some way of incorporating images uploaded via the Upload Media button into the PIP History folder. It would make finding and/or reusing uploaded media a whole lot easier. Cliff Pennock... you seeing this?

Lol I tried but it seems like something is not working right. Probably would all be easier from my PC but it's been 3 years since I've booted up. No idea what would happen and need a new wifi antenna for it. Hmm. I'll keep working on it.

I don't upload images from a phone, but it looks like you've possibly sent a screen capture of a photo that's been zoomed in. You need to upload the actual image file (from the Photo folder or whatever it's called).

[EDIT] Alright, for the first time ever... I uploaded a photo from a cell phone (android) above. It was actually easy enough to navigate to the photos on the cell phone, but using a phone for accessing/posting on the forum IMO really sucks. PC FTW!

The problem I think is I was trying to post multiple photos in a post. I do one and it works. So one per post it is! Thanks for the help Patrick, my PC is a dinosaur that has not been turned on in 3 years.

Interesting that in the first three photos, Tohatchi looks to have a short snout (like a pug), but the last photo clearly shows that she has a regular length snout. Thanks for posting the photos!

In regards to posting multiple images, there's one "trick" to ensure each one displays properly. All it takes... is to hit Enter twice on the keyboard (or phone) before and/or after each upload. If all the images are uploaded without doing this, the image URLs of one or more of the images become corrupted, and then those images don't appear. I've explained this to numerous members who've experienced this issue, encouraging them to edit their posts to correct the problem, and they don't bother.

I can see the border collie in her and I guess you found out, they are a people dog. That is absolutely loyal to their human.

(If ya think you're in charge, try bossing another man's border collie around..it won't end well)

Got it thanks Patrick.

MJ- yeah she's definitely a mix I'd be really curious to find out what but not really sure if those pet dna tests are even accurate.

She's a good dog, she mopes when I have to go to work and I have to put a cone on her. She gets separation anxiety and chews herself up when I'm gone...doesn't do it at all when I'm there. I guess she likes me too much in a way.

One thing I did with my dog Skye (Border Collie/Lab mix) was when I left home I would always give her a treat- she was unhappy I was leaving but did like getting a treat.

It was kind of funny- I would go out for a bike ride- She would be hopping around and happy until I closed the chicken-wire fence on her- then she would be very unhappy. I would try to pet her and she would turn away- Had my buddy watch thru the fence once and he was cracking up- some of her actions/re-actions were so human.

I have to put my new dog in her crate when I leave her home- she counter-surfs, etc and gets into trouble...To get her to go in the crate I state "I have to go to the store" and in she goes - But then I give her a treat.

Here is Skye (2004-2019);

Two photos have been posted of dogs at the beach. I'll make it three.

This is an animated GIF that I made years ago of Frankie, my Siberian Husky. I'll miss her forever.

(The GIF will take a couple of seconds to download before playing.)
