The article (2511 words) Read-o-Meters to an impressive 12 minutes and 33 (count 'em) seconds.

"Everything You Need To Know About McDonald's Famous Filet-O-Fish"
Dani Zoeller for TastingTable; January 2, 2023.
https://www.tastingtable.co...famous-filet-o-fish/

The history of the sandwich, from the decision to create it, to the ways it's been advertised, and the kinds of fish that have been selected for it. The uniqueness of the tartar sauce and the buns. The different versions that have been created for the McDonald's franchise in other nations around the world. And "secret" menu options for it.

If you have unanswered questions about this venerable staple of the MacDonald's menu, this is the reportage for you.

For the record, I scrolled through it to be able to describe it like this, but I have not (and likely will not) read it closely.

It's just something that caught my eye as I was news-scrolling on my iPhone.

To be completely honest, I haven't eaten one in decades... I often forget it even exists. But when I worked at McDonalds, I'd occasionally eat one when it was left past the timer / clock in the heat tray. We would throw them out at that point, and since I was running 8-9 miles every day after school... I would sometimes eat the stuff we were about to throw out, haha. They were quite good. I may have to get one.

On that, I cannot remember for the life of me, if it was cooked on the grill, or if we used the french fry / chicken nugget / hash-brown fryer to make them.

Above story isn't new and don't see anything added to others in print or video.

FOF is fried in same oil as FF etc @ most stores in U.S.

I to haven't bothered McD for decades.

Haven't had one in around 15 years.

The last time I was just past high school, I ordered 4 or 5 for myself because I was really hungry, parents ordered some for them also. First couple were fine but the 3rd one was pure gelatin inside. Like eating deep fryed fish flavored Jello, literally! Took two bites, one from each side and threw away the others including ones for the parents and never had another. And thats when I really stepped back on eating McD's I'll have a Big Mac once or twice a year but thats it now.

Shortly after that is when I was talking about it with somebody and learned about Trans Fat. Turns liquids into solids. That 3rd one was pure trans fat and fish juice

It’s literally the only thing I’ll eat from McD. Besides fries ofc.

People who’ve worked at McDonalds say to avoid it as they sit in the warmer the longest but I’ve never gotten sick from one. I’ve had friends and relatives get sick from chicken nuggets and their burgers.

The things are tasty I like them on road trips and usually get one once every 1-2 months.
