I saw him perform in Norfolk many decades ago. His work was 'ok' but he was obviously inebriated, rude to specific audience members and very profane. Much of the audience walked out before the show was over..
Like a lot of talented musicians, Jerry Lee makes performing look so easy. Here's a sample going way back for the "youngsters" here who may not be familiar with Jerry Lee Lewis. He was definitely one of a kind.
Not a fan, of the music or the city. I lived or was stationed there 3 different times. Too many of the performers of that era and locale were exactly the boozing pill poppers the media finally showed them to be. There was much better music coming out of Beale St during the same era but it got little attention compared the white entertainers like JLL, Elvis, early Conway Twitty (before he went country) , Mickey Gilley etc.
I wouldn't cross the street to what this pedophile perform. Don't care how good his music was.
At the time he married her, she was of legal age.
I don't have to like and/or agree with an artist's political beliefs, sexual orientation, religious views, etc. If they've got talent, I can appreciate it.

We all have standards we live by, apparently your's are different than mine.

The standards I live by have no relationship to the standards (or possible lack thereof) of artists whose talents I may enjoy experiencing. I don't wish to judge anyone and everyone (nor am I in any position to do so) before I listen to a song or watch a movie or look at a painting.
Ron, if you'd like to see an excellent documentary on a lack of "standards", watch Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey. Learn about grooming, pedophilia, and incest on a monumental scale within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It's quite an eye-opener. Makes Jerry Lee look like a choirboy.

Based on limited research, I'm advised the law at that time allowed 15 year olds to marry and that both Jerry Lee and his child bride lied. As I previously stated, we obviously have different standards and values. I know this, if my 13 year old daughter wanted to be with her first (or second) cousin who was a mature adult, there would be someone going to jail, might be me. I guess you can let your 13 year old do what ever.
