Just picked this red dot up off of my local Armslist and I am looking forward to testing it out at the range. Been looking for one of these for quite a bit. I feel like I got a good deal at $250.

Cool.

Does it come off without tools to take down the rifle?

Does it hold a good zero when you take it off and put it back on?

Yes, it mounts to the scope rail on the side of the AK with the lever. I heard that it will keep its zero after taking it off and putting it back on, but I haven't shot it yet to confirm.

I wouldn't trust ANY optic (red dot, reflex, holographic, etc) to hold zero once it's removed and reinstalled. There are too many variables in the mounting. I've got red dots on all my pistols. I think my Delta Point Pro is great but I can move it just by loosening the 2 mounting screws. Probably not enough to matter at 7 yards but I'm sure it would make a difference at 100 yards (in the case of that rifle). The general rule is to rezero every time you reinstall optics. That's one of the reasons why there were quite a few who disliked the original RMR as the battery was under the optic so you'd lose your zero every time you changed batteries.

Century Arms RAS-47. It runs perfect.

I like the red dot on my AR. AK just feels right without one.

I wouldn't trust that it would hold zero after removing it, but that's what people claim. I would still verify and rezero after every removal though. I chose this sight because it's designed specifically for the AK.

That's an AK-47... are other companies manufacturing those now? I assumed they stopped making them in the late 1980s?

It's actually an AKM. AKMs are stamped. AK-47s are milled. The WASR is made in an actual combloc factory in Romania. Mine is a 2013 model. My friend has a 2017 model.

Lots of companies, but few reliable ones.

Another important question, does it shake awake or stay on all the time? I dont think I'd want one I'd need to turn on.

There is a switch that turns the optic on. I will get a photo soon. It's not terrible. My EXPS3-0 needs to be turned on every time I shoot as well, that is on my Stribog. My AR has a Romeo 5 XDR which is shake awake.

Mine is an American made AKM look alike called the RAS-47. It's a stamped and riveted steel receiver for low cost. You can buy this new today. There are many others. You can even buy parts kits to make your own.

For the foreign made rifles there are so many rules since the 1968 ban:

The WASR 10/63 was built using romanian military kits. The WASR 10 is made from brand new parts.
