Here's a thought...
Remember when the charges were announced? The Chicago police chief stood up in front of the national press, and described the things that Smollett "did".
He never used the word "allegedly".
I think he shot himself in the foot. A good defense lawyer would probably be able to eat him alive. They may have realized that.

Although the timing is interesting.

This whole thing just might come unraveled before the day is over. Can you say "obstruction of justice"?

We could see a rift between Barack "the police acted stupidly" Obama and Rahm "never let a crisis go to waste" Emanuel.

I do not like Rahm Emanuel, but today he is right.

The day of reckoning for the Obama administration is coming. He needs to answer for the FISA court abuse and now this.

The FBI that was weaponized against the president? I’m thinking it’s over legally. It will be interesting to find out who was pulling the strings here. This could be political fodder for the next election.

The FBI who now must prove that they are nonpartisan and care only about truth and justice. This has nothing to do with Trump.
It is my opinion that the Obamas are behind this.

This isn’t over by a long shot. I was in the car at 6 AM this morning and for three hours all I heard about was this case on every single radio station. From NPR to AM radio, even the local hits only station.

I watched the press conference that our Mayor Rahm Emanuel gave yesterday. The anger I saw from him and police superintendent Eddie Johnson was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Whether we like it or not Rahm Emanuel is an incredibly connected politician. I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to pee him off. And WOW is he mist off. If Smollett thinks that being on the wrong side of Rahm is a good idea he is misinformed.

Mayor Emanuel is the textbook definition of corrupt. When he says that this reeks of corruption it’s bad. With all the things going on with the FBI lately I can only assume he has a connection to someone that will pick up this case as a favor to him. Yesterday on TV he looked personally offended. Don’t forget we have a Mayoral election coming up in a few weeks and he’s not running. He has nothing to lose by grinding his ax all over Smollett. Rahm Emanuel has had his sights set on a bigger office for a long time. What would look better for a lefty then to run an ad touting his law and order crossover appeal based on this case.

For some reason I disagree. I think he will make even more money on this stunt. Think about it, he got away without being convicted of a crime or challenged. He can still say he has been telling the truth the entire time, and technically Chicago will not challenge his claims. His show will get HUGE viewership for at least the next few shows, maybe even pick up some ratings?
I don't think anyone will put hands on him, death threats are normal program for people of such notoriety. So he will get those, but nothing legitimate will come from them.
In my opinion the Federal Government picking this case up has a higher potential of jail time for him.

The picture is starting to come into focus now. It seems that George Soros has been buying prosecutors across the country.

George Soros Spent $408k on Prosecutor in Jussie Smollett Case

IF America TRULY wants to deal with "the rich" or "income inequality" then we must accept that they hide their "wealth and resources" TAX FREE behind tax right offs. Get rid of 100% of tax right offs for 100% of Americans, and then AND ONLY then will we truly level the field of wealth.

Rich people are able to "right off" money by "donations to "charitable causes". They DO NOT "spend money" they exercise their right to tax right offs.

It's not faith, it's cynicism. Smollett is expendable. The deep state has nothing to gain by protecting him. They will throw him to the wolves to prove a point.

Entirely possible. This whole drama has a stink to it.

Assuming that the Chicago Police have Smollette dead to rights, someone pulled some strings.
I have no doubt there's a whole lot more to this story. Whether Smollette is prosecuted by the Feds or not, there really does need to be an investigation into what appears to be a very corrupt system.

One has to wonder if any member of this forum (pick one) were to have done what Smollette supposedly did, would the same situation exist?

I smell Obuma all over this. Ive heard some reports even say Michelle pulled some strings.

I also seen that Chicago DA, sent a letter to Smollett demanding payment of $130,000 for wasting police resources. He didnt have money to post his own bail, so cant see that happening. Obuma will probably pay it for him.

Your slipping Lambo. Your ratings bar is trending Green, .
I love your insight, and have rated you positive for a long while.

Yeah, something is going to happen to Smellit (Smell It). We can make it happen !
I AM GAME !

It was said by some pundit, that the Mayor of Chicago was sending Smellit a bill for $130, 000 dollars for investigative costs for the fake nonsense. If Smellit doesn't pay, it goes to Civil Court. Which would unseal the records.

That is what needs to happen !

All of us MAGA wearing hat 'culprits' can sue him in Civil Court for slander for a blatant lie.

Smellit's latest lie is that the attackers were black men wearing 'white face' make up. Underneath nylon masks.

When is enough enough ? I have had enough !

It appears there is a significant backlash against this.

Good... it was a no-harm crime, so I don't necessarily want to see him behind bars, but I do want him to be forced to acknowledge that he faked all of this, and be required to serve probation, community service, and pay for all of the fees and overtime the police had to go through in the investigation. It is important that people get called out for these kinds of things. Jessie really believed people would rally behind him for something he believes exists... but doesn't actually see.

Wasting taxpayer's money via fraud (or mis-management) is NEVER a victimless (no-harm) crime!

Only jail time will enforce that fact.

True... after re-reading what I said... I consider the fact too that the resources spent on this guy (particularly due to his profile and status, and the nature of the case and the all-eyes on this police force to do it right), I consider how many missing kids and murders went unsolved during this time. A time-frame that might have led to the crimes actually being solved.

Not really Cliff. Suicide among blacks is about as high as in other races, and hanging is one of the ways it happens.

Firearms were the predominant method of suicide among African Americans
regardless of sex or age, accounting for 47.42% of all suicides. Suffocation
by hanging was the second most prevalent method (29.9%).i

I can see that, and I believe that.

Jussie Smollett lynched his career, his character, his word, his reputation, the MAGA / racist claim, the queer LBGTQ image, …

His parents must be so so proud of him.

Guess who showed up for a Black Lives Matter protest (in NYC).

Jussie Smollett. A fake black victim for a fake black cause.

Perfect !

Jussie Smollett, 38, raises a fist at Black Lives Matter protest in front of Trump Tower in New York as he fights charges of staging an attack on himself
