Not only is there a full eclipse tonight across the entire US, but it's also known as a Super Moon, Wolf Moon and Blood Moon, so it's a Super Wolf Blood Moon Full Lunar Eclipse. On the West Coast it starts around 7:30 and on the East Coast, it starts about 10:30 with the total eclipse happening around 11:45.

The kids will be out of school tomorrow for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so it would be a good time for them to see it. Might be a little rough on the parents who have to work tomorrow, but it's something the youngest kids will remember.

I don't know. It just says it's the first one this year. This is a Lunar Eclipse, not a Solar Eclipse like the last eclipse we had.

Predicted to be a tad chilly out tonight so I *might* take a glance.

As for "once in a lifetime" astronomical observations, I was able to see Halley's Comet on it's 1986 pass so I'm good with that.

ahhh, your probably correct. I just hear these things come up all the time saying once in a lifetime, or once every 200 years, etc...so I really dont pay much attention. Its going to be -5 tonite. Ill be up but probably pass on checking it out. It will be on the morning news anyway.

I'll likely walk out a couple of times and take some quick peeks at it, but it's pretty chilly here, too. Even my little Dachshunds come back in with their skin so tightened that they look like Ridgeback Hounds. Hair down the spine standing straight up.
