Is Addblocker still effective, or is there a newer better app out there? Thanks.

Google is considering adding an ad blocker native to Chrome. It is available now as an extension. Ad Block is native to Opera already with VPN (a proxy) as an option that you can turn on.

Be aware that many sites (including the one you are on) depend upon advertising revenue to make access "free". Without ad revenue many now "free" sites would go away or become only accessible to paid members. About 26% of internet users use ad blocking now. That is expected to increase after Google adds it to Chrome.

Thanks for pointing out the reason for the adds. I'm setting up a new computer and I forgot what the adds mean to several of the forums I go in.

You can add an "exception" in your adblocker for your forum attendance. That way PFF gets the bennies they ask for.

I use adguard on both my laptop and my phone. Works amazing and you are able to whitelist certain websites if you're inclined. Can even block ads inside apps on your phone too.
