but say they do. Craftsman will still be a tool brand..
As far as craftsman tools getting cheap, they had no choice.. as THE American shopper will go buy the cheapest tool they can at harbor freight ..
People used to buy tools to have them a lifetime..
not anymore..
Problem is Most people see Craftsman w/ Lifetime Warranty = Good or Best tools.
Most of them are not and never were.
Lifetime Warranty on tools won't last is design to drive traffic to the stores. Sears knew that People go to store, return worn/broken tool and Most buy other thing while there.
Sears made crap Blue/Black Tipped Handle screwdrivers in 60's 70's and 80's long before Walmart HF etc. (blue Philip/slot, black Torq and some others.) Common to see them in pack @ $1 to $1.50 per driver. Most blue and black tipped I have are worn and need replacement but I'm in no hurry to go to the store. Many have been waiting for 15+ years.

You need Craftsman Professional @ $6 to $15 per driver to get ones that won't wear out fast. Only offer this for ~15 driver vs >50 blue/black tipped. I have one that's 25+ years old and still look fairly new.

Craftsman wrenches may take the load and abuse but many have loose tolerances that can round a head/nut fast.
Look at Craftsman Pro, Snap-on, etc and Craftsman and is a night and day of difference.[/QUOTE]

We get it, you hate craftsman tool..
I have had just as many snap on and cornhole, mac tools that broke, and have a lifetime warranty..
I have a draw full that if I remember to put them in my vehicle on the day he is in the area I'll get them replaced, or repaired..

Wrong. Don't hate them but I know how Many Warranties really work. I have Lowes, HF and other tools w/ "Lifetime Warranties" and isn't better or worse then Basic Craftsman. Warranty is design to drive traffic to the store when they break.

I don't use many either because of issues above. Example: When I have "stuck" nuts or bolts... I don't want Craftsman's, HF, and other 12point sockets and end wrenches. Loose tolerance and 12point and most only grab a very tips to head/nut. I do have a Craftsman set 6point deep sockets for nearly 40 years and works good for most jobs.

Snap-on et al has Lifetime Warranty is true but Many problems getting many trucks to honor it for the majority of public. S-o, Mac and other Trucks are Franchise Operations and many won't bother dealing w/ most public. Lifetime Warranty here is to keep Shops on the route happy. (I've told by S-o etc drivers/owners that Truck Routes/Zones are assigned by main company.) Most tools are better and doesn't wear out or break but some can be defective or break when abused and Warranty keeps Shops buying tools from the Trucks.

Craftsman Professional is available at Sears stores and online and much better tool than most normal Craftsman tools.
You will pay closer to Snap-on etc prices too.
