http://www.foxnews.com/us/2...s-killing-woman.html

The explosion leveled a woman's house and killed her, several others injured.

I just had the passenger airbag in my Vibe replaced due to it being a takata.

I've had the air bag recall letter on my 08 Silverado for several months now--still waiting for the dealership to get the parts in to fix it.

Safety first.

.

.
.
"Takata uses ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion that fills air bags in a crash. But the chemical can deteriorate when exposed to prolonged heat and humidity and burn too fast. That can blow apart a metal canister and hurl shrapnel into drivers and passengers. At least 11 people, and probably 14, have died worldwide due to Takata inflator explosions. The deaths have occurred in the United States and Malaysia, where three remain under investigation

..The deaths and more than 100 injuries sparked a massive global recall of more than 100 million inflators, including 69 million in the U.S. in what has become the largest automotive recall in U.S. history."

Seriously though, wow.
Sad about the casualty as well.

"The truck, operated by a subcontractor, crashed, caught fire and exploded"
Sounds like the crash and fire were the main problem.

"Got Blowd up Sir !"

Pay attention, I thought I read somewhere that they were just replacing them with newer takata airbags or that they didn't have any of the new improved style or enough of them. not sure where I read it but I would have asked for a different brand, just to be sure.

Steve

My brother in law had a crv that had airbags replaced, because it was "unsafe" to drive, Honda provided him with a rental for over 3 months while they waited to get the parts in.

That sounds more like a Paco than a Randal.
