http://www.whdh.com/story/3...d-by-train-in-dedhamJust got back about an hour ago from a memorial service at my kids' school. The 13 year old in the story was a student - a year ahead of my younger son, two behind my older daughter.
There's still no indication why he ran up and off the platform toward the train.
I have no idea - I can't comprehend, nor do I want to - what that first night was like without tucking him into bed, without giving him a kiss on the forehead and saying, "Sweet dreams. See you tomorrow."
His family has been involved in the school longer than ours. The oldest was a couple years ahead of my oldest, and married a girl who was a year ahead of him. Our families aren't as close because there was never one of theirs in the same class as one of ours. Still, this hits home. Don't let a moment go by, if you are able, to let your kids know that you love them.
