So a couple of days ago when I tried to go to eBay it would try to load (I could see the eBay homepage for less than a second), but then I'd get a blank page with this address: http://tpc.googlesyndicatio.../html/container.html
I have tried a few other websites, like cheaptickets.com and the same thing happens. I am not very computer savvy, so I have no idea if this is a virus or just a random bug.
In short it's part of Google analytics/tracking and depending on your browser / security settings is probably throwing out the issue you are seeing because it can't see you.
That's the short answer, which I'm sure one of our coder experts will tear apart.
I'll recommend you use Firefox with an add-on called Noscript and actually block everything relating to Google. You can still use it as a search engine but won't have to deal with any of their bullshit tactics. You can then click the "temporarily allow" button if a webpage depends on it. Once you close the browser, Noscript blocks it again. I can't stand Google and their intrusiveness in everything you do online.

Well......I'm not much for change (I've been driving a Fiero for 26 years for crying out loud!), but I just downloaded Firefox and so far it seems all is good. I have to get accustomed to the differences, but that shouldn't be a big deal.
I'm beginning to hate Google too. There is no reason for them to know everything I do! I know being online means I give up some/most of my anonymity, but at some point it's just too much. I am considering throwing the laptop away and live a little more off the grid, but I need it for work so I really can't do that I guess.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.
BTW.....how do I add this "Noscript"?

Be aware that Noscript is an add-on that has to be tweaked as you go. You have to know what to allow and what to deny otherwise you simply cannot even open some webpages. If you want to try it, go here and click the "install" button. https://noscript.net/getit
Firefox may prompt you to "allow" the install so go ahead. Once installed, you can tweak it however you want or turn it off completely. To turn it off, go to the "tools" menu, click on the "add-ons", then click on the "extensions" in the menu on the left. It will show the add-ons that you have with the option to turn them off or remove them.
This is what mine looks like on the Google home page. I can still use Google without these being allowed:
Also depending on the website, that googlesyndication is always blocked by default with Noscript.

What IMSA said. I run NoScript, and don't have to deal with the typical long pause at the end of pages loading, or my browser completely hanging now and then.
You should see some retail websites...there's a list of like a dozen different trackers/ads/etc, not just one or two like you'd think...
Is one of service/servers use by google ads and site/service is down or some ads are corrupt.
Many use NoScript etc to block this. Some use Host files to block them.
Blocking sites/scripts often have problems.
NoScript is a good and bad because CNN and others Requires to add "Third Party" Scripts (3PS) to work to watch news and finding exact script otfer a big job. CNN and Many others have 15-30 3PS every pages. CNN needs at very minimum CNN and Turner scripts and often more depending on source of story.
