I get home Friday evening moved my mouse and nothing no sound at all just silence. My newest build was not working and to think the night before I downloaded all my emails including the one with a tracking number for my new Belt-buckle 22lr. I tried to reboot and nothing again but this time I noticed one of the many fans, the one on the power supply was not working and there is a slight electrical burnt smell. I guess I let the smoke out and can't find it to put it back in. I thought Corsair power supplies were supposed to be good. This was a CX-750 only about 5 months old. Has anyone had any dealings with Corsair on warranty issues? From what I have read on the net they are a PIA because I didn't purchase it from them directly. I since ordered a Cooler Master full modular 750 watt to replace it. In almost 20 years this is the first PSU I had a problem with. This rig is running 24-7 for the last 90 days not over clocked and with 3 case fans not including the PSU fan. What gives????

LOL! I thought I seen the same thing. Sad thing is, I have my new glasses on. But a CX-750 Corvair has a pretty cool sound to it

Electronics fail. They all fail sooner or later. Even "good" brands don't have a perfect quality record. One failure in 20 years is pretty good odds.

Corsair is usually pretty good about RMAs. You have to make an account here to get to their customer service though.

Makes me wonder when my CX-750 is gonna blow. Running 24/7 for the past year with a FX-8350 at 5Ghz and a fairly decently overclock on the card as well.

I sell a lot of computers and components (own a PC store here in Europe) and had to stop selling the CX budget line of Corsair supplies a while ago. They have terrible soldering quality on this line and the overall quality control is abysmal.. sleeved Fan bearings, no heatsinks. Had more issues than it was worth.. Corsair has quite a cult following and their high tier stuff is extremely nice so it's a bit disappointing to see more than just budget parts being use in their budget supplies but also budget assembly and quality control.

No heatsinks? Coulda fooled me.

You're right on the sleeve bearings though. The soldering is varied, I've seen both ends of the spectrum with the CX series. You're also right not to use them in customer builds as quality ends up being a lottery. I only have mine because it was given to me by a friend.

No heatsinks on 6056 pieces which is extremely generic for the prices they charge.

Well I have my Aaus 990FX Sabertooth with a AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 8-Core 4.2 Gh computer back running again. The power supply I purchased was a 850 watt Cooler Master V850 full modular. This I hope will last longer than the Corsair CX750 that took a dump. I am going to try to get warranty on this unit.

You made a fantastic choice.. excellent power supply. It's basically a Seasonic unit, and a very very nice unit overall.

I requested and received a RMA for the Corsair CX-750 on 4-25-15 and shipped it back that same day. Today 5-11-15 received a new not a refurbished sealed in a retail box CX-750. Other than the time it took Corsair was very good with the return RMA system they have. I included a copy of the original receipt from the little computer store I use when I need something quick. The receipt didn't even have the full model number on it just Corsair PSU. I think the company is great with returns like this. I just included the conclusion if anybody is interested. Now what do I do with a new unneeded 750 w ATX power supply.
