I agree, very cool. thanks for the post. I can't help thinking that there isn't much room for error at those speeds and altitudes. Watching the launches reminded me of the day there were blood filled pad eyes on the flight deck after a sailor got hit in the head during a launch. I almost enrolled in the Naval Aviation Cadet program but I'm sure that I would have washed out.

Awesome. Reminds me why when I was a kid I wanted to fly those things.

Back in the early 80's I was treated to a backseat ride in a Air National Guard F-4 Phantom.
We did some (live) air to ground gunnery runs and dropped a couple of small 20 lb. practice bombs on the range at Camp Atterbury in Southern Indiana.
My forward view was of course not like what you see in these videos, but the view out the sides and top of the canopy was just as spectacular as that.
(in between the times I was trying hold the contents of my stomach down....)

I filled my hard hat sack when I was flying back seat in an AD5 Skyraider. My job was to monitor a radar screen. I was fine when I just looked out the window but when I put my face back in the radar screen I would immediately get sick. Never been in a jet fighter.

Very cool videos.

Give it a sec, Mike will be in the thread telling us how he used to do all that in a twin engine prop plane.
