Thanks for posting this. Yeah, It was nice to see him do that on his final appearance at the Stadium.

That whole game, start to finish, could have never been scripted more perfectly if they had used a whole team of Hollywood writers.

Just to show you how human he is ...
I saw him on camera, interviewed, saying that he had the same nervousness as he did when he first played. He said he was thinking "please don't let them hit the ball to me".

An extremely talented player and a class act.

Mr. Jeter epitomizes the kind of player most parents want their kids to role model after. During his long career he managed to keep his private life out of the news and the focus on his on-field accomplishments. While I am not a Yankee fan, I am a fan of Derek Jeter. He should be a Hall of Famer on his first chance.

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun?

My Uncle Frank was a staunch Conservative and voted straight Republican until the day he died in Chicago. Since then he has voted Democrat. Shrug

Not to "diss" the man in any way, but does anyone think that maybe that Orioles pitcher who was facing Jeter in the 9th tried to groove one for him? Maybe just to give Jeter his best chance on the very first pitch? Looked like a nice "juicy" pitch from a batter's perspective, as far as placement, and (if I recall the video accurately), only a middling velocity of 86 mph.

I just checked the standings, and I guess the game could have had postseason significance to the Orioles, in terms of determining home field advantage for the playoff games with the other American League postseason teams.

I don't know anything about that Orioles pitcher. Whether that pitch could be considered suspect, or not.

I just curious if that thought crossed anyone's mind who saw the video.
