I'm sure some of you have heard of (or heard music from) a band called Flyleaf. They're one of my favorite 'new' rock bands. And their singer (Lacy Sturm) has an amazing voice. Unfortunately, she quit the band to raise her kids, which is perfectly understandable.

The new singer (Kristen May) has some pretty big shoes to fill. I'm still not sure if I like the new sound. Maybe I should hold out until the "she doesn't sound like Lacy" thing wears off.

Anyway, here are a couple tracks for you to compare and contrast (and maybe enjoy?). These first two feature Lacy.

And this last one features the new singer, Kristen.

Sooo... what do YOU think?

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't describe them as a "new" band considering that their first album came out almost a decade ago... New vocalist is good but it's not the same.

Agreed, Kristen has more of a pop sound to her. That new song is decent, but it just sounds like its lost the soul of Flyleaf. Not that I was ever a big fan, but who doesn't love Again among a few others

Saw Flyleaf a few years back in a fairly small venue in Des Moines. They dang near out-did the headliners...Seether! In all honesty I was down there for Seether but I did go out and buy the Flyleaf album after that.

That was my impression, too. And I'm not a big fan of pop music. So I probably won't be buying their new album.

On a related note, Three Days Grace also lost their front-man, and replaced him with someone who sounds 'pop-music-ish'. Meh...

I went to Three Days Grace last ever show with Adam as their lead vocalist. It was the last tour stop in 2012 at the Exit/In, sold out, and Adam announced he was leaving not quite a week later. The new guy is the little brother to their bassist and the lead for My Darkest Days. He can sing alright but can't write his way out of a paper sack and -unsurprIsingly- their new single eats dick.
