Whether or not you agree with the pr)n industry is irrelevent on this one. The point is a bunch of self-rightious-agenda-driven-special-interest-azzholes managed to get a "law" passed that an industry didn't like---so the industry just said "frack you" and went elsewhere, taking all those jobs, tax bucks, and economic activity resulting from that industry with it.

The big point is, that this time its NOT just one company, its an entire industry doing it.

So, LA county voters voted for this. What's your problem? I guess people valued not having the pron industry where they live higher than the jobs that go with it (I don't buy the "prevent HIV infections among performers" explanation).

There are many industries that people rather NOT have around, no matter the jobs.

Like ship breaking by hand...

It's a pretty common attitude.
Let someone "else" do the jobs I don't like, and let them do it somewhere I don't have to see it.

They still want those jobs done - they just don't want to see it or know about it.

I really don't think this is who you think it is doing this. Rather than "a bunch of self-rightious-agenda-driven-special-interest-azzholes", its more likely a bunch of people who don't want to lose their favorite star to AIDS. Think about it. IF the industry YOU work in had a way to eliminate the leading cause of job-related illness and death, and DIDN'T provide you the "safety equipment" and ensure you used it properly, you'd be howling mad. If they cared more about their "bottom line" than about your safety, you'd "ream them a new one". And, if you're in that industry, you'd be just the man for the job...

There's been more than one AIDS scare that shut down filming in the industry until everyone got tested. And more than one death from it. You okay with that?
