That was a great article, thanks for the post.As a kid in the late 60s me and my brother built model cars and the Micky Thompson funny car was my favorite.Go Danny!
I'm so bummed. Was going to leave in early am tomorrow for the racing on Sat and Sun. But it rained yesterday so no racing till Sunday. Wont leave me enough time to get home for some commitments.
I can only imagine what it's like to travel at those speeds and to be honest, have no desire for such a stunt. Not sure what it'll prove but, based on the clip and reading the article, it's his dream. All I'll say is, Go for it. If that makes ya happy.

My Uncle Frank was a staunch Conservative and voted straight Republican until the day he died in Chicago. Since then he has voted Democrat. Shrug

As Micky Thompson's son, he is following in his father's footsteps.
I would assume the Salt Flats still have plenty of room. I know for years they have been talking about the usable surface shrinking. My dad and I were there back in the 80`s when you could still just drive out there by yourself. I remember up to about 70 it was kind of bumpy but then just started smoothing out the faster you went. I don`t think we even got up to 100. We were in an 80`s Cadillac which was kind of a dog.
edit: I didn`t realize but I just read where they are still open to the public and you can drive on them.

Thanks for the post C Kid,amazing story and history on this record challenge.Definitely going to watch. Is this going to be on any live channel?
Very rarely (if ever) will you see any live broadcast from the Bonneville Salt Flats, because it's a really remote place. Of course you could beam up to satellite, but it's a pretty much long drawn out event. If he breaks the Record, you'll be sure to see lot of Stations, News Channels, and Youtube, posting video of the run.
Yea that's what I thought, was hoping speed channel or motor trend might pick up on this story being micky is a legendary figure in auto history.Thank goodness for youtube.
