It appears that Cancer is on the rise for many people that were present near the World Trade Centers on 9/11:

I remember watching the Towers Pancake, the incredible amount of dust that was generated blanking everyone within blocks of it. While in shock the thought passed through my mind that the dust cannot be good to breath. Doing some checking Silica is know to cause cancer if breathed in, in dust form. Many construction materials contain Silica, such as Concrete, Cement, Drywall, Tile, Grout, and many others. Tip of the iceberg might just be surfacing.

I recall watching a documentary on 9/11 and them stating this very thing. They were saying the death toll will still be increasing for years to come

I work with fiber cement siding frequently. Most known it as hardi plank. It's loaded with silica. Knowing this, I have done lots of research. Healthy adults would need 10+ years REGULAR exposure to acquire simple silicosis. Ask MJ or CliffW about silica in drilling fluid additives. Silica is naturally occurring, just like asbestos but significantly less harmful. Cancer from silica exposure when the towers fell is a long shot. IMHO.
