The U.S. Department of Justice has sent a member of its Community Relations Service team to investigate a Nebraska parade float that criticized President Obama.
A Fourth of July parade float featured at the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk sparked criticism when it depicted a zombie-like figure resembling Mr. Obama standing outside an outhouse, which was labeled the “Obama Presidential Library.”
The Nebraska Democratic Party called the float one of the “worst shows of racism and disrespect for the office of the presidency that Nebraska has ever seen.”
The Omaha World-Herald reported Friday that the Department of Justice sent a CRS member who handles discrimination disputes to a Thursday meeting about the issue.
Also at the meeting were the NAACP, Norfolk mayor Sue Fuchtman and the Norfolk Odd Fellows, which coordinated the parade.
The float’s creator, Dale Remmich, has said the mannequin depicted himself, not President Obama. He said he is upset with the president’s handling of the Veterans Affairs Department, the World-Herald reported.
“Looking at the float, that message absolutely did not come through,” said NAACP chapter president Betty C. Andrews.
Don't pretend America is still free when a jester gets investigated for mocking the King. I wonder if he'll be banned from the Fourth of July parade for life? Making fun of dear leader ended a rodeo clown's career. I guess he should be thankful he didn't get black bagged.
The legal watchdog Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained documents revealing the Community Relations Service (CRS), a unit of the Department of Justice, was deployed to Sanford, Fla., following the death of Trayvon Martin to help organize rallies against George Zimmerman.

I wouldn't rely solely on Judicial Watch and the Washington Times. Here's a column about DOJ CRS and the Zimmerman case that would be worthwhile reading for anyone who wants to go into that in more depth:
This "Verdict" website has a list of contributors that looks like a range of backgrounds and leanings, not just a narrow point of view or specific agenda :
There can be little question that the federal government’s entrance into the fray gave those on Martin’s side a renewed incentive to protest the initial failure to charge Zimmerman, and to treat the case as one about race, rather than self-defense.
I don't see how that suggests the role of any federal representative to be that of peacemaker or conciliator, nor does it suggest any effort on the part of any federal representative to find any truth related to the Zimmerman/ Martin incident.
We have seen the President stir the racism pot any number of times, and the DOJ has been made in his image.
I wont even capitalize president when used with Obuma's name. Hes a public disgrace to the office.
4th of July parade should be the most liberal of any. So much for free speech or freedom of opinion. The best parade there is , has to be the local DooDah 4th of July parade. Anything except blantant nudity is permitted. They even have a group every year called the Dueling Fidels all dressed in camo and looking like Fidel Castro. Theyve even drug a Bin Ladin dummy down the street behind men in cheerleader skirts, lol.
I was just up in Norfolk last weekend for the rodeo and had the chance to speak with a few locals about it. They were saying the library was full of articles about how Obama has been treating veterans and how he used only the same articles for the paper.
On the local Norfolk news the only people pissed about it were black. Oh well, every one else got the humor.
