So with the wife is back in college at $30k per year and not working and of course bills are piling up. So we are cutting everything that is a like and not a need. Cool website for all of our shows streams them live the day after they are on tv.
Does anyone have a google TV appliance not chrome cast and do you like it. If you have the google tv with chrome does this website work with it before i spend the money on one of these devices.
Thanks in advance.
Also there is a website out there that does all the sports games live online anyone have that link i cannot find it in preperation for football season.
We've not had cable in close to 3 years. I mean, it's not like I circled the date on the calendar, so I don't know with 100% accuracy.
Anyhow, we have a Roku for streaming netflix ($8/m) & Amazon ($8/m). Above that I nab some shows from coke & popcorn or youtube, & we have plenty of DVDs.
That being said, TV isn't a larger part of our life anyhow, so it wasn't that big of a sacrifice.
If you can get antenna then use it for Broadcast channels. Depended on area and antenna used can get 1 to many channels. This is good for local news when have weather alerts etc.

When I was in college, I couldn't study with a TV on so I'd go to the bedroom with my books. Soon, the wife joined me while my teen age daughter watched TV. Soon, she joined us and read while I studied. (I worked full time and went to school full time)
Four years later, I found a job in Germany, we lived in the country and couldn't pick up TV. So the upshot is that we haven't watched TV since roughly 1981. Tell me what I missed. I did watch the last episode of MASH, though. My all time favorite show.
My internet connection is too slow to down load anything especially TV. Glad you found free TV.

We have been trying to drop cable for a year now, and this was our biggest holdup. We had trouble finding an antenna that received all the over the air channels with decent reception. We finally found the Mohu Leaf. http://www.walmart.com/ip/3...=70486546741&veh=sem Reception is awesome, and cable is gone. We will also be dropping our landline soon.

we dropped out land line about 2 years ago updated to the verizon land line phone system and now we dropped it to. So cable is the next to drop then hopefully some more bills.......
We still have satellite, but only till our contract is up this winter. Then we will drop it and probably pick Netflix streaming back up. Currently, I have converted all our DVDs to .mkv files and have close to 1.5 tb of movies and tv shows on our plex media server we can play using our rokus. The main channel we watch on satellite is Food Network, so I'll have to figure out a source for those shows outside satellite. I know my wife has watched shows like that on YouTube before, so since the roku will play YouTube, maybe that would work. We don't watch local channels at all really, getting our news mostly through the Internet so I'm not to worried about local stuff. We had dropped cable for a year or so just using Netflix, but once we got caught up on shows we wanted to watch that they had the selection got old and we got satellite. Then I discovered plex from someone's suggestion on the forum here and with it I think we can ditch satellite and be good. Plus we have Netflix DVD still so we can always get the DVDs for shows when they get released. I haven't seen any for iron chef and such though.

Ditto. More than two dozen local stations, plus Amazon Prime ($99/yr) on Roku, and there's not much more that is needed.
With a site like that (which is pretty good, thanks!), what pays for it's existence? Is this like an "introductory" period, to be followed by a deluge of ads and/or "pay per view"?

FIND TV... great site. Only thing that would make it better for me is closed captioning. The wife has a hearing problem & captions really help her. Does anyone know if I can get captions turned on with Flowplayer / Flash ? I searched but couldn't find anything. Thanks

I noticed the Find TV site changed today. Now it requires users to register. You just KNOW the next step is to require payment for the service. Too bad... it's been great up to this point.

Ah! So it wasn't just me. I wondered it I had hit some limit or something.

its either a honey pot for the RIAA or a pirate site. Either way, dont rely on it, or anything else like it. ( or use it without an anonymous vpn )
Sure, you can watch these things, but never make financial decisions based on them as they may not be there tomorrow. Then you are out of luck watching your tv unless you find another or hook your 'cable' back up, sometimes with a startup fee... ( if tv is that important to you )
I have Hulu myself. It has almost all the series programs and movies I want to see, but it is missing some. It works at home and on my phone where I can play it thru the RVs tvs on the road. The only real reason I keep the cable is so far I havent found anywhere else that broadcasts auto races live or even replays. Ill have to check out your link too.
Checked out your link....good job, thanks. It has the shows even Hulu dont carry (like Pretty Little Liars). Now we just need one for live racing programs.
Yeah, I should have too. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Just signed up for the DVD by mail version of Netflix so my wife and I can watch the stuff that Netflix won't put on its streaming service.
I'm fixing to dump satellite TV right now, been planning on it for a couple of weeks. I got SiriusXM for music. I would have done it a long time ago but our Internet is so sucky we can't really stream video at our house. I'll set up an OTA antenna in our attic. My choice is less about budget, and more about the huge time-suck TV can be. I have crap to do and instead end up with my ass squashing out the cushion of the sofa while I watch Law and Order reruns....not how I want to spend my time....but apparently I'm helpless against a young Mariska Hargitay
I put up an HDTV antenna 3 years ago and it picks up about 12 channels that I want to watch, all the local stations, public television and some movie channels. I added Roku and then Netflix, and we get all the TV we could ever want to watch. Add Sienfeld to the list of old TV shows that were worth watching. I connect the laptop to the big TV when I want to stream stuff like the Mecum auction.
I have been off cable TV for quite sometime now. Live Sports is the toughest thing to find streams for.
but - for most of the "not so legal" sites - you REALLY REALLY need good ad-block, and good anti-virus/spyware software. you go hit one of them sites with a fresh vanilla Internet Explorer, and your PC will be run thru like passed out chick at a homecoming after party. With Video.

I was able to get a little info on Findtv. It appears to be in the Netherlands (where all of the Nether is.)
My concern is getting hit with a DCMA suit using it. Much of what is on there costs money any other place. You can log in with a fake email but that doesn't mean someone can't find you. I doubt Findtv is out there to lure people into violating the laws but at some point one of the copyright owners is going to want to make an example of someone.

So beware.
Yeah that is definitely a concern. We actually decided to quit using it at all when we couldn't get in last night. We found out that Netflix has everything we want that we couldn't find streaming via DVD anyway so we went ahead and signed up.

That's the direction we are heading. Netflix andHulu. For the few shows they don't have like Turn, I will just buy the season.
I got fed up with the crappy DTV H21 HD receiver and after talking to DTV about getting an upgrade to the H24 or newer they said only if I signed up for two years. This is after 15 years of being customer. Nope, I pulled the plug. They can call me all they want with offers and I can see there is no reason to get it. An antenna gives me the local stuff and I can buy every show and more from Hulu, Netflix, Itunes, etc. and still spend 1/4 the money. It helps that I don't give a rats-ass about sports though. That makes it a tad harder for some but I would think buying the season or individual games would still be cheaper in the long run.
