HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU’RE OLD, AND DON’T MOVE FAST ANYMORE !!!

George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.

George opened the back door to go turn off the light,
but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.

He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"

He said "No," but some people are breaking into my
garden shed and stealing from me.

Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available"

George said, "Okay."

He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both. The dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.

Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a paramedic, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you
said that you'd shot them !"

George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available !"

(True Story? I honestly don't know.) BUT, I LOVE IT! Don't mess with old people.

GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL

Isn't it strange that after a bombing, everyone blames the bomber, his upbringing, his environment, his culture, his mental state but … after a shooting, the problem is the gun?

My Uncle Frank was a staunch Conservative and voted straight Republican until the day he died in Chicago. Since then he has voted Democrat. Shrug

Wouldn't work here. Dispatch would have asked me to drive out to the highway and lead the officers to my house because they couldn't find it.

Would you have bothered calling in the first place?

Well of course I would, from under my bed while they hauled all my stuff off.

Or I might just pull a Joe Horn

Depends how I happened to feel at that moment in time. I'd have to think about it a few seconds.
Do I want to exercise my constitutional authority right now or not? Do I want to follow the legal statutes of my state or not? Do I want to place myself in danger or push that risk off on to someone that has no vested interest in my stuff other than his/her place of employment?
I'd probably do that quick thinking while I was choosing my weapon--from under my bed--like a little crying girl.

I do believe Don would call the police or have his wife do so, what I'm not sure about is whether that call would be made before or after he emptied his weapon..

To be honest, I'm not sure what the order would be if we're talking about my own shop. Let's hope we don't have to find out.

I guess I should be absolutely honest here.
I just checked-our beds sit too close to the floor for me to fit under and I don't think the cell phones would work from under there.
