<kicking self in ass>

So yesterday my brother and I stripped the roof off of my dads gazebo and wheelbarrowed the old shingles to my truck...(and I was too dumb to wear a t-shirt in 40-degree heat so now look like a lobster)

This morning I drove the load over to the dump, backed up to the shingles bin, dropped my tailgate----and was faced with a 1,000-pound solid mess of broken shingles.

All of them with all those sharp little nails, and all that tar and glue sitting in the back of the truck in that heat for 10 hours yesterday had melted everything together into one huge lump.

2 hours of pulling and prying later I am having a coffee, am so worn out I am shaking, and am DAMN glad its a long weekend up here !!

Next time (dads shed is next) the old shingles go in my brothers truck instead of mine and HE can deal with them !!!

Stupid is as stupid does !

My buddy has a much better method of emptying his pickup truck bed. Back up really fast with the tailgate down then hit the brakes as hard as he can. Works for beer cans anyway.

Yea, he'll probably go empty them right away, saving himself a lot of work.

A 5 dollar tarp might have prevented it.

First thing I thought.

And guilty myself. Instead of a pickemup truck, I did that with my E250. One giant lump of crap.

That's some nasty work. Re-shingled our house 4-5 years ago, (21 squares). After one trip to the dump, loading and unloading and $45 for a 6' bed pickup load I said screw this. Paid someone $300 to clean all of the old shingles, haul them away and dump them, (legally I suppose).

No, I am not kidding you. And not either. And yes, I am old.

Drywall is my favorite workout. I can lug 2 sheets of 5/8" up three flights of stairs. I do a whole rack myself.

I have gotten the flag many a times. Even have a whole thread about it in RFT. (Zero disrespect towards RFT. The moderators there are actually fine peoples. Only the mouse that starts threads there bashing members here. )

You carry that **** up a ladder? I stand half way up the ladder and have two guys toss me bundles and then stack them on the edge of the roof.
Easy enough to do if the slop isn't too big.
