Killed off my blue Vision Spinner 1300. I reached in my pocket and found it had come apart, likely due to side stresses while I was mowing. Lost the button so I am sh out of luck, still functions if you hit the tiny pad like button on the circuit board with a toothpick. Kind of inconvenient.
Apparently the idiot is very strong in this one........................
Dam glad I have a backup. This was an adequate excuse to buy a Vision 2 1600mah from eBay though. I need the extra run time.
Maybe if I get the time tonight, I'll recoil my daily vape and take some pics to post as I do it. I can take picks of the kamry which I use with the nimbus when I play around with different coils.

What about a small piece of rubber then wrap it with tape? No reason to toss out a perfectly good backup. You never know when you'll need a backup for your backup. Currently, I have my Spinner, a v1 MVP and a v2 MVP. Depending on how tomorrow goes at work, I'll likely have an 18650 mech mod Friday. Not sure it'll be too good for anything but the dripper atty but maybe I'm wrong.

There was more to it than that. In short, the nice vape lady at ecig n vape gave me the whole end assembly with button and board off an old spinner so I could have the button I lost. I did I trial run on the install on the junker and it went without a hitch, at least as far as anything goes with magnifiers and tweezers. So I then took this newly gained experience and skill and promptly and without hesitation screwed up the good one. Done, over and F it.
A lot of f'ing around for trying to save 15 bucks, I don't know why I do that but I always do. I went a head and bought some spinner 2's. I have been dumping some cash but I haven't been smoking any Camels, and that is quite amazing ..
I think WD88 did, but he's banned now. I know that Utah recently had a law passed in congress to allow medicinal marijuana but I don't know if the governor signed it or not. If my Doctor suggested I try it for relief of my arthritis pain I might try it to see how it goes but the one time I tried it all it made me feel like was like I was freezing cold and I hate being that cold so I never tried it again. If the Doctor suggested it and I tried it and it made me feel the same way... I'd stick to the meds I currently take instead. Even so, I'd rather vape it than smoke it if the Doctor suggested and wrote me a prescription for it.
Ok, per request I just got time to upload some pics.
This is my 2 mechanical mods. The all stainless is my Chi-You with Tobh atty (my daily vape). The blue and chrome is my Kmary K100 with Nimbus. That one I use for playing around with different coil builds like the stove top coil. I have my roll of 26 gauge Kanthal and a some of it twisted that I made also. There's my screwdriver that I use to put the coils in and wind the coils around, my nippers and my pliers I use to compress the coils when I heat them up before putting cotton in. You have to heat the coils to red and then compress them or space them out, depending on gauge and what you like, so they both heat up at a similar rate. Otherwise you'd always have one side getting hot and burning the wick and the other side not vaping the juice as well. Oh and of course my bag of cotton used for wicking and one of my Sony VTC4 18650 30 amp high drain batteries.
This is my wifes, but she wanted it recoiled.
Here it is with the coils removed and you can see the binding posts and how deep of a juice well it has. If you look at pics of a Nimbus you will see it has a much shallower well for juice. Plus, if you look closely at the right post, you can see the 2 outer posts are machined into the base. This means those 2 will never twist on you like they can on the Nimbus. The center one is still connected with a screw and insulators, so it can twist, but I've never seen one that wasn't.
My wife wanted a stove top build, so here's one coil in.
Both coils.
This will work okay for her as she takes small one second hits. I take longer hits so if I used that I would go through juice like crazy.
This is some coils I wound around the tip of my screwdriver for my daily vape build.
Not the best pic, but here's both coils in.
Cotton wick ran through the coils.
All tucked in.
After wetting the wick with juice, a quick test fire before using it.
Also, I use my multitester to check the ohms of the build. I didn't take any pictures of that but this one was .4 ohms.
Really, it's not hard to do and you can add a coil or 2 if you want a cooler vape or you can go bigger diameter on the coil or smaller. They have macro coils, micro coils, figure 8 coils, clapton coils, inception coils, verticle coils, twisted coils and a myriad of other possibilities. It helps to understand ohms laws so you have an idea what your build will turn out to be ohms wise. You don't want to end up with a direct short although I've seen builds as low as .2 ohms (almost a direct short). I've seen builds using anything from 22 to 38 gauge kanthal wire. The thicker the wire though, the more coils you need to make enough resistance for it to be usable. Every weekish, I have to pull the cotton out and burn off juice build up from the coils and replace the cotton. It's not hard to do, and depending on how I am feeling at the time I will either clean it or just rebuild it. Really, I think the coils would last a month or so if I cleaned them every week, but I find myself rebuilding it every second or third cleaning.

Very "not bad"! Since I, you know, didn't get fired today, I'm going to take my coil building class tomorrow. I have a LOT to learn about building my own coils.

I'm curious to see what mech mod and dripper is included with that class.
I'd imagine it's probably something like the Kamry and Nimbus I have (or Patriot which is essentially a Nimbus with a different shaped cap). Considering the Kamry comes in a kit with batteries and charger it would be a good one to include (although they may use an unbranded version). The atomizer that comes with the Kamry sucks, but it's not a dripper it uses cartos. Overall the Kamry isn't a bad mech mod but I liked the looks of the Chi-You so...
Khw, Fantastic! thanks for that great post. Are those adjustable or straight voltage? or are you adjusting with the coils? I was looking at some clone batt setups but quickly realized I didn't know enough to be looking yet.
My wife is not as into it and is already giving me "the look" for having a mere five tanks and a few batteries. I may start doing it on the sly! more fun that way I think,,,,,, never do anything on the sly.

I think they said it was the Patriot. If they said what the mod was, I didn't pay attention. I'm heading over there after a shower.
Took the class. I still forget which atty/mod I now have. /shrug/ Built a single 1.2ohm coil. I'll probably take this out (and hopefully save it) and build 2 coils tomorrow. I can adjust the air flow on this atty but have it set wide open as I prefer lung hits. Juice seems to have better flavor over the AT and AT Mega (although both are great vapes). I run the Mega wide open and still get twice the vapor on this dripper as I get on the Mega. I can't imagine the cloud once I put dual coils in it. I'm using 28 ga wire, 7 wraps around a 5/32" stick. Comes out to 1.2 ohms. I think 9 wraps will come out to 1.5-1.6 ohms so 2 would be .8, give or take a little. I think this mech mod should handle it ok. (If you hear a loud explosion, it's just me realizing that I have no idea what I'm doing. )
I also found out that non-Mega coils don't work so well on the Mega (I assume because the air flow is greatly increased). Dry, burned coils do NOT taste good. (2 hours later and I can STILL taste it.) (blechcoughgagblech) The non-Mega coils work just fine in the original AT. New Mega coils are on order and should be here early next week. Looks like I'll be vaping on the AT until then.
L-R: Kanger Aerotank Mega, Panzier mechanical mod with Helios dripper atomizer, iTaste MVP v2 with original Kanger Aerotank, Spinner, iTaste MVP v1. Vast collection of misc juices and clearo/cartos. First coil build. (Looks like I got some juice on one of the screw heads.)

Well, it's either a real or cloned Helios (that's what I meant to type earlier...). It's what my daughter uses on hers. It's a nice one because of the dual binding post in the middle so your dual coils don't have to share the hole in the middle (a much better unit than the Nimbus or Patriot). Not a bad little setup with the Panzier and Helios.
Khw, Fantastic! thanks for that great post. Are those adjustable or straight voltage? or are you adjusting with the coils? I was looking at some clone batt setups but quickly realized I didn't know enough to be looking yet.
The mechanical mods like mine are straight voltage. The batteries are rated at 3.6-3.7 volts depending on the brand. Mine our the Sony VTC4, so 3.6 volts. The VTC4 can deliver up to 30 amps in a short duration use. Since your only using them for 5 to 10 seconds at a time, it heats the coil up pretty quick. As it dies, it will take longer to heat up the coil and vapor production drops off significantly. But, I have 3 of them so I can be using one, while having a charged as a back up and the one I just used in the charger. I think if you calculate it out with a .5 ohm build it's right near 26 watts. So yeah, you adjust it by how many ohms your coil is. The lower the ohms the higher the wattage and conversely the higher the ohms the lower the wattage. I've found for me my everyday favorite is in the .4-.6 ohm range. I've built some higher and some lower just to see and that's what I like the best, at least with the 26 gauge kanthal.

Do you know what kind of 18650 battery you got with it?
Efest IMR 2500mAh high drain. (One of the purple ones.) I need a 2nd one (and something more than a single cell charger). Local shop has them for $15 but they're about 10 bucks online.
Helios. That's what it is. Just couldn't come up with the name. It's supposed to be authentic but it doesn't matter to me. It works well (and looks good). I'm going to work on a dual coil setup when I get up. This may end up more addictive than analogs were.
Great information guys! not sharing a hole makes a lot of sense.................... errrrr, heh seriously though I think that is the design to look for , thanks for the link.
Khw, do you use tanks at all?
My green spinner 2 1600mah and the mini's showed up today, very pleased, paid a little more to get that color, hell I do have to look at it. I also switched the coil unit out to the new style in the AeroTank just now, man what a difference. The coils that came with it are/were garbage, a few hours on the first one and two days on the second and it was never quite right.
Ordered a sample pack of juices from http://bulkejuice.com/index...h=18&products_id=176 And another 30ml bottle of Banana nut bread from http://www.mtbakervapor.com/ hopefully this will last long enough to hunt down some juice deals. So far 25 bucks for 4oz seams to be the cheapest I found. That would be from the first link.

I don't care a bit about looks. Function is where it's at. If hot pink and periwinkle are the cheapest colors, that's what I'd go for but I'm cheapfrugal cost effective.
$25 for 4oz doesn't seem bad. That's almost 120ml. I pay $35 for a 60ml bottle at the local shop. The only advantage I can see in buying local is that I can sample the flavor before buying. Better than paying lots of money for something you end up throwing away. I'm picky on flavors. To me, most seem to be a little "heavier" than I like. I was a menthol smoker so I like the bite that comes with that. I DID find a really nice flavor at the shop today. Coffee with a hint of chocolate. I have yet to find any flavors that actually taste like what they're supposed to be other than this chocolate coffee one.
I have had a few that were right on flavor wise. The local shop sells for 13 for 20ml so it's like 14 something out the door. I think it is 60/40. I had a sample of Belgian Waffle that was amazing, very waffle on the inhale with a light maple finish on the exhale. The mimosa tasted exactly like Tang! heh. The Banana Nutbread tastes like it should too.
With these guys, the bulk works out to 6.50 per 30ml, they will also add extra shots (whatever that is) of flavor for .25. I esrimate I will be doing around 80 to 100ml a month.
The other order is local enough for me to pay sales tax! dammit.

A buck difference? Might be worth it. I'm thinking about ordering a sample pack from them, too. I think I'll get 0 nic with watermelon, apricot, black cherry, cappuccino and mocha plus a bottle of menthol. Total cost of $14.10. If I even find a couple flavors I like, it'll be worth it. $6.50/30ml is less than 1/2 what I'm paying now. If I can find something I can use for a daily vape, I'd buy from them. If not, there are other places, I guess. I just hate to start spending hundreds of bucks to sample flavors. In the end, it might be cheaper to sample flavors for free at the local shop and pay more for the juice. We'll see.
The "extra shots of flavor" is just what it is. Think of your e-juice as a chocolate Coke. The juice itself (VG/PG/nic (or not)/water) is the Coke. The flavoring (waffle, black cherry, mocha, etc) is the squirts of chocolate. How chocolatey (?) do you want your Coke?
Judging by the color and char towards the end of the top coil, it's heating up from one side to the other, not center out and before the coil on the other side. Basically, it looks like you don't have the coils balanced quite right. Another possible is the cotton being to loose through the coils. I've noticed if the cotton is to thin, it won't produce as much vapor and the wick will stay wet looking even though your getting a burnt cotton flavor.
We have a couple of Protanks but I don't use them anymore. I work in construction and landscaping, so I'm out in the heat a lot. For some reason, I guess because hot juice thins out a little or the heat causing the juice and air in the tank to expand or a little of both, I don't know but the tanks were flooded every time I tried to use it. It was real discouraging and I almost gave up on vaping because of it. But I figured I'd give a dripper a chance since there was no tank to flood. I'm glad I did. With the tank flooding, I was smoking at work and when I got home cleaning out the tanks and vaping at home. Once I got the dripper, I haven't had a cigarette since. The dripper is the "right" way to go for me and my occupation. If I worked somewhere air-conditioned were the tanks wouldn't be subject as much to the high temps I am it'd probably work better for me. But the way things are right now, they just don't . We have 4 or so Protanks around here somewhere that my wife held onto for when she doesn't want to drip. That and various other smaller tanks .

Not sure what it takes to buy from them but these type places are interesting. One is straight PG VG and Nic and you must add flavor and the other will premix.
I know there are lots of places to get the pure flavor in smaller quantities.
Got the 30ml bottle from Mt baker vapor. I was unaware that you need to age/ steep (wrong fricken word use) the fresh juices..... GD it! a much more butter and bread flavor and less of a banana. We will se if that changes with the aging.

I had the same problem when I'd leave my tank in the truck while I was at work. I'd come back out thinking I'd get a good vape on the way home but all I got was juice.

You've got the word(s) right. Some need to be steeped longer than others.
Khw --- Turns out most of the problem with the lack of vapor was a bad connection to the battery. I had to screw in the fire button on the bottom a little bit and...WHAM...great vapor.

I thought so. Ordered a nice Delrin wide bore drip tip from CherryVape.com today. (The Universal > http://shop.cherryvape.com/The-Universal-0047.htm ) It's a wide bore all the way through so it should be good for more vapor. Since it's Delrin and not SS, it should be cooler, too. I think my next purchase will either be a Tobh clone or a Kayfun clone. ($80-$120 for authentic is more than I can afford right now.)
I'm not sure what to think about these. People want to use them in my shop, but they do give off an unpleasant odor at times, depending on what is being vaporized... so I have them knock it off.
Does anyone have any information about possible pollutants it may put out? I mean, obviously it is less harmful than cigarettes, but is it kosher to be used near areas that need to be kept sterile? Until I get more info, strictly off limits in the shop for now.

I know from what my Doctor said, it's no more harmful than a hot shower. Does that mean in 10 years there might be a study showing some yet seen side effect? No it doesn't. However as far as sterilization of surroundings I don't know of any studies on that. Personally, if I was in your situation I'd treat it the same as smoking as far as where I allowed it done. If I didn't allow smoking in the shop, well they can stand outside and vape to. I don't go into Wal-Mart or 7-11 and take a puff off of my vape. I don't even do it when I'm in a vape store although I have seen others do it and the people selling the juice and batteries/mods usually vape in the store to. But, I look at it like a cigarette store. I'm not supposed to go in and lite one up there so why would I in another store. I might take a couple of puffs off my vape on the way to the door of the store, but if there are a lot of people around I abstain. I think one problem people who vape will face is the ignorance of others in that the vaper is aware of it's insignificant impact on ones health at the most to current knowledge, but those around them more than likely do not know. So, the vaper may see nothing wrong with taking a puff in a crowd of people or in a store but because of public perception brought on by the dangers of smoking, other people will not like them doing it near them or in establishments. I think vapers need to be respectful of current smoking laws and not vape where one isn't supposed to smoke. I know it's not "the same thing" but people that don't know probably think it is so why do something that could lead to negative repercussions?

^^^^ What he said (for the most part). I vape at my local shop all the time. On the other hand, the name of the shop is Alchemists Vapor Shop and Lounge. They encourage vapers to stop by, sit down, have a vape and shoot the sh**. They offer most of their juices at the "bar" to try while you're there. They have 2 signs on their front door. "No smoking allowed" and "Vaping allowed". I wouldn't have any reservations about vaping in a vape store unless there was a sign prohibiting it. Smoking is a different story as there is concrete evidence that it's bad for you. The owners of a vape shop KNOW it's not bad so I don't see why they would care. No way I'd vape in any other store because, as Khw said, most that don't vape, don't know that there's nothing bad about it. They only associate it with smoking. (It's interesting to note that, 50 or 60 years ago, one of the ways you showed you'd "made it" was to hang out at a cigar "bar", drinking high dollar booze and smoking the fattest cigar you could find.)
tbone42 --- Bottom line is, it's YOUR shop. If you don't want your customers to vape (or smoke or drink pop or eat food), that's your prerogative and perfectly acceptable. If you have a shop where things really need to be sterile, I wouldn't allow customers to do anything while there. If you're just worried about lingering pollutants, I wouldn't worry about it.
I will go with "not at this time" and leave the door open so people don't hate on me too bad. I am too diplomatic sometimes. Thanks for the answers fellas.
Looks like the FDA could very well shut down the vaping industry. Some kind of ruling is due on the 8th of August. Might think about stocking up on supplies.
Considering I've already got my atomizers and mods, plus I could build more if I wanted to, that's why I was looking into and trying out mixing my own juices. If they make laws that negatively impact vaping making it excessive in cost, well the ingredients to juice, batteries, kanthal wire and countless other items are commonly available. Those things are in no way specific to the vaping industry so it's not like they will suddenly become unavailable. The nicotine might be the only thing difficult to come buy, but I'm half no nic half .6 nic as far as juices go. Once I use up the last couple of .6 it will all be no nic so that won't matter to me anyways.
I have not researched this yet, news to me. Though it makes sense that as soon as I get into it they will regulate me out, almost couldn't happen any other way. Might be hype but I have read it is going to close a lot businesses and eliminate most all products. Not sure what that means yet.
Things like this should prove to even the most daft that in regards to our government it is all about the revenue and the actual health of the citizenry is of absolutely NO concern.
I think I may start a little hoarding of high nic juice. I think you may be correct that that is what they will go after either outlaw and protect there big tobacco buddies or tax the piss out of it. Other than wanting to get a dripper and big batt. I am pretty well set for equipment now. I am going to order a few Mega's and Giants from dhgate later this week. Well,,,,,,,,,, because I WANT THEM!
I don't see the FDA doing anything important to vaping any time soon. There's very little they can do to a hobby that doesn't have any health related drawbacks. I'm not worried nor will I hoard any stuff. Like Khw said, a lot of the supplies are used in other industries so they won't/can't be regulated out (nor the price regulated UP). Wire, cotton, batteries, etc are generic items. Nic...eh, maybe. Some day, maybe. However, if they regulate the heck out of nic juice, there will be a bigger outcry than they think if they don't ban tobacco and we all know they won't do that. I ain't skeered.

I could see them classifying it as a "tobacco" product and put it under all the same regulations as cigarettes, but that'd be the extent of it. I don't know what kind of impact that would have on the industry. I imagine it would mean warnings about the addictive nature of nicotine would have to be included on the labeling plus any health risk it's linked with. Tamper proof seals on the bottles. I imagine there would be a "tax" stamp required per bottle. Producers would probably have to follow the same regulations as tobacco manufacturers. Such as stainless surfaced labs where the juice is made and such. I don't know what it would mean for mech mods, batteries and regulated power supplies though. But because of people going places your not supposed to smoke and vaping instead, I imagine the FDA will have to do something to pacify the public. It's one major reason why I won't vape where I'm not supposed to smoke or in a crowd of people. I don't want to be part of the problem and I want to respect others choices not to smoke or vape.
Oh and many of those things are already being done by some of the retailers.

My shop does that kind of stuff already, I think just to be proactive. Not a bad idea. I can see some sort of warning about nic being addictive but I also think most who vape are (ex) smokers so they already know. Alchemists even advertises vaping as one way to quit smoking.
I don't see where anything would happen with PVs, regulated or mechanical. A mechanical mod is JUST a battery housing and the batteries are used for a lot of other things besides vaping.
It took years and years and years before anybody even considered regulating tobacco. IF (and I'm still not convinced it'll happen) vaping gets regulated, I think it'll be a long time from now. God willing, vaping won't be regulated, ever.
Got a 100' roll of 28 ga wire today. My Kayfun clone should be here Monday. Looking for a good box style VW (not VV) mod. $250 for a Hana is too much for my cheap a**.
