The responses after Katrina in New Orleans and the Boston bombing in Watertown were test cases on what they can get away with. I'm not suggesting that was planned in advance, but you can bet it was examined for lessons learned on how far they can go after the fact.
If you wondered why there's been so much change in top level military leadership over the last few years, now you know. The current military leadership is fully on board.

This is the sort of thing I woudl really like to see a good argument against, something that shows, "no that didnt really happen, you have it wrong"...

if you actually read it, you'll see it nothing new. it is a remake of a policy started in 1986, again in 1993, and then in 1997. each one has a built in expiration. this one expires in 2020. the root of the policy is so states can call upon the National Guard. and, yes, there has been the presidential authority all along as well.
so - yes - it DID really happen. So, if you want to cry about it, see who was president in 1986. no arguement needed. just wanted to see how long they would suck each other off with BS.

What you are saying is don't worry about the problem just find the person(party) to blame.
I'm sure it's the first thing the new GOP president will recind. In fact, let's make a list and check off everything "Obama" they undo.
Are you kidding? 1, everything 0bama has done has been such a resounding success they'd be crazy to change any of it. 2, there won't be another GOP president, because the Democrats love you and the Republicans have money and hate you.
