"the Sioux Chief Mini-Rester 1/2 in. x 1/2 in. Copper FHT x MHT Washing Machine Arrester on a washing machine supply line or directly to a washing machine."

10 bucks x 2. Stick 'em on the back of your washing machine, and your water hammer goes away. It just works. Yippee!

Newer washers are very unforgiving.

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio less than 10 months old, but the washer isn't the problem if water hammering exists. The household plumbing is.
Washing machine shutoff solenoids haven't really changed a whole lot in the last 50-60 years--water is either suddenly on--or it is suddenly off on all of them.
